Towards the end of last month, Sega postponed the worldwide release of Sonic Rumble. Although gamers in certain areas have been playing the game for some time, fans of Sonic the Hedgehog in the U.S. have had to be patient. After the delay, Sega has now revealed their intentions to reintroduce the limited-time items and events that were offered during the pre-launch phase. In a tweet on the game’s official X/Twitter account, Sega explained that these events and cosmetics will be made available again once the global launch occurs.
Sega announced that popular Skins, Chaos, and Stickers from the game will be available again once it launches globally. Although not all cosmetics will come back right away, they aim to ensure everyone gets a chance to collect them eventually.
As a dedicated Sonic Rumble gamer, I’ve been eagerly awaiting news about the return of all those fantastic cosmetics we missed out on during the game’s launch. While Sega hasn’t explicitly promised every single item, their statement suggests they’re aiming to bring back as many as they can. This is music to our ears, especially after months of watching players in other regions enjoy limited-time cosmetics and events that we hadn’t known if we would ever get a chance to experience. Sega mentioned these time-limited skins and events were added “to keep the game fresh and engaging for early players.” This makes me optimistic that U.S. fans might finally have a shot at unlocking some of those elusive goodies!
Although Sega has provided some insight into the game’s content, fans continue to question why Sonic Rumble is taking so long to reach U.S. shores. There isn’t an official reason given, but it could be that Sega is anticipating a significant level of interest in the region and wants to ensure their servers can handle the expected surge of players. This is just speculation, but it wouldn’t be unprecedented for a developer to roll out the game first in smaller regions before making it available worldwide.
Besides that recent announcement, Sega also disclosed that Sonic Rumble surpassed 600,000 pre-registrations. This milestone was necessary to unlock the Crystal Chao Buddy in the current promotion prior to the game’s worldwide release. It’s worth noting that the game’s website hasn’t been updated with the number of pre-registrations needed for the last two tier goals, which are skins for Garnet Knuckles and Movie Sonic. Given that previous rewards were unlocked every 200,000 pre-registrations, fans speculate that Garnet Knuckles will be unlocked at 800,000 and Movie Sonic at 1 million. However, since each tier only has a question mark, it’s possible that Sega might lower the thresholds to ensure these freebies are accessible for all players.
