As a lifelong Sonic fan who grew up with the blue blur zooming across my TV screen, this news about the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has me more excited than a Chili Dog at a Green Hill Zone party! The anticipation for this film has been building steadily since the release of the first movie back in 2020, and it seems that we’re finally reaching the crescendo.
Excitedly, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the news, and finally, it’s here! The rumors were true – the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be unveiled on Tuesday, August 26th. Today, Paramount officially confirmed this through a series of tantalizing images shared across the Sonic Twitter account. These intriguing snaps show Sega characters illuminated on buildings worldwide – from Dallas to Tokyo, Frankfurt, and New York City. As you might expect, Sonic and Doctor Robotnik are front and center, but there’s also a hint of Shadow the Hedgehog. The anticipation has been building for months, and now it seems like the hype train is about to start rolling!
An image of Shadow’s face projected in New York City can be found below.
For quite some time, it has been clear that the character Shadow will play a significant part in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3.” These hints reveal how Shadow is being utilized to promote the upcoming movie. Last time, it was Knuckles who took center stage, but this time, it seems Shadow will be everywhere! Although Paramount has just started generating excitement for the new film, Sega kicked off the buzz several months ago by announcing 2024 as the “Year of Shadow.” Since then, Sega has been gradually increasing Shadow’s presence, from a tour featuring a replica of Shadow’s motorcycle, to a fresh LEGO set. There’s even a new game called “Sonic x Shadow Generations” set to release on various platforms on October 25th.
2020 marked the debut of the first “Sonic the Hedgehog” film, and since then, it has become a noteworthy achievement for Paramount. The combined box office earnings from the initial two movies surpass $720 million worldwide, an impressive feat. To add to this, this year has witnessed the growth of the Sonic Cinematic Universe with a live-action “Knuckles” series on Paramount+, breaking streaming records and offering viewers insights into the events following the previous movie. The anticipation remains for whether “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” will maintain this streak of success, though we’ll have a clearer picture once the first trailer is released!
