As a seasoned gamer with a heart full of nostalgia, I must say that the return of Sonic and his gang in “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is nothing short of exhilarating! Growing up, Sonic was my go-to guy for some fast-paced platforming action, and the news that Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Jim Carrey, Lee Majdoub, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, and Tom Butler are reprising their roles has me grinning from ear to ear!

The much-awaited film “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is scheduled for a theater release on December 20th. Upon its arrival, viewers can expect a blend of familiar faces from the first two movies, along with some exciting new additions. Excitingly, most of the cast from the initial films will reprise their roles, including beloved characters like Sonic and Knuckles, as well as human stars such as Tom and Maddie Wachowski from Sega. In anticipation of the upcoming movie’s premiere, we have put together a comprehensive list featuring all the principal actors confirmed to make an appearance.

Returning Sonic Cast Members

As a die-hard Sonic fan, it goes without saying that the blue bolt of lightning, our beloved character, is a must in this movie! Fans can rejoice at the return of the talented Ben Schwartz, who’s been lending his voice to Sonic since the beginning. Alongside him, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, the only cast member who’s also voiced their character in video games, is back as Miles “Tails” Prower.

Not only the protagonists, but also some familiar faces are making a comeback! There was some talk that Jim Carrey might have hung up his acting boots, but it’s now official – he’ll be reprising his role as Doctor Ivo Robotnik. Lee Majdoub will once more portray Agent Stone, while Natasha Rothwell takes on the role of Maddie’s sister Rachel, Shemar Moore steps into the shoes of G.U.N. agent Randall Handel, and Tom Butler returns as Commander Walters from G.U.N.

In the first two movies, only the main character Wade Whipple, previously portrayed by Adam Pally, hasn’t been officially confirmed for a return. Notably, Adam Pally also co-starred in the ‘Knuckles’ series streaming on Paramount+.

Keanu Reeves Plays Shadow

To date, a few fresh actors have been announced for the upcoming film, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3”. Notably, the renowned Keanu Reeves has been tapped to voice Shadow the Hedgehog. Based on current information, Shadow’s storyline seems to follow a path similar to his depiction in “Sonic Adventure 2“, where he made his initial debut as a character. In that video game, Shadow was manufactured as part of an experiment by Gerald Robotnik, the grandfather of Ivo Robotnik. As of now, Gerald himself has not been confirmed for the movie cast. However, his granddaughter Maria Robotnik will be portrayed by Alyla Browne.
