The third installment of “Sonic the Hedgehog” series has proven to be another blockbuster hit for the franchise (earning over $420 million globally so far). Given that you own the first two films on Blu-ray, it makes sense that you might want to complete your collection by getting the third one as well. However, consider whether you’re prepared to acquire two copies of the 4K Steelbook edition since both Sonic and Shadow designs will be available starting from April 15th. Fans eagerly awaited the release of Sonic 3, whether they were followers of the movie series, video games, or the speedy hedgehog character himself. According to Comicbook’s Marc Deschamps, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” enhances what was effective in the first two films by cutting back on excessive elements, providing a more streamlined focus on Sega’s classic characters. It is undeniably the most accurate portrayal of the games and offers numerous nods to longtime fans. Although it caters well to dedicated followers, it never compromises the narrative in a way that would deter casual viewers from enjoying the story.
Instead, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 incorporates aspects from previous games to further develop and solidify a distinct cinematic universe. This approach caters to both new and long-time fans, as it resonates with those who remember Sonic Adventure 2. After three films, Paramount’s Sonic series remains strong, and this installment might be the best yet.
