After a full shutdown on Saturday, the PlayStation Network is operational once again. Sony expresses regret for any inconvenience experienced, attributing the problems to an “operational hiccup”. They also assured that all PlayStation Plus members will be granted additional five days of subscription as compensation.
Unfortunately, the outage disrupted several titles that were hosting online events or betas. For instance, the recent dungeon of Destiny 2, Sundered Doctrine, experienced issues with its World First race. Similarly, Capcom’s ongoing beta for Monster Hunter Rise was affected. However, there’s another opportunity coming up from February 13th to 16th!
Sony has yet to disclose the specifics about the problem or its origin, so keep an eye out for further announcements. On a positive note, the company is no longer requiring PSN account linking for certain Steam games, instead providing perks such as extra costumes in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and more, to those who choose to connect.
The network services are now functioning optimally, having resolved the operational problem. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding. As a token of our appreciation to all PlayStation Plus members, you’ll automatically receive an extra 5 days of service.
