Sony Has Been Backing PS5, PC Action Game Lost Soul Aside for Almost a Decade

One reason Lost Soul Aside has been a hot topic among indie games for the past decade is that Sony has been a constant supporter of the single-person development team led by Yang Bing. In a recent interview with IGN, the developer shares how Sony’s support dates back to as early as 2016, essentially from the project’s inception.

During the time in question, Bing disclosed he had a connection at PlayStation. This individual reached out to him about the action project and possible collaboration following the game’s initial viral release. The partnership essentially started when Bing relocated back to Shanghai, China towards the end of 2016. At that point, an arrangement was established with Sony, where they agreed to support the title in some capacity.

More recently, this partnership has grown significantly, particularly with the advent of the China Hero Project. This initiative allows Sony to provide assistance and advice to indie projects in China that catch their eye. Similarly, there’s an India Hero Project for the Indian market as well. The alliance between the two parties has become so robust that Sony will now serve as the publisher for Lost Soul Aside on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Other games stemming from the China Hero Project include F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch and ANNO: Mutationem, adding a sense of prestige to the brand. In contrast, Lost Soul Aside has been eagerly awaited for quite some time, generating more buzz than other projects. The game is set to debut on PS5 and PC on May 30th, 2025.
