Based on a Bloomberg report, Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided not to proceed with two unannounced live-service games that were being developed by Bluepoint Games, known for the remake of ‘Demon’s Souls’, and Bend Studio, creators of ‘Days Gone’. In simpler terms, these two games have been scrapped from development at these studios.
According to Jason Schreier, a reporter for Bluesky (2), Bluepoint Games has been developing a live-service God of War game since completing support for God of War Ragnarok in 2022. At this point, it’s unknown what the studio is focusing on now.
A representative from Sony Interactive Entertainment affirmed the cancellations, explaining that the decision was made “after a thorough reassessment,” and emphasizing that Sony will persist in creating both standalone and multiplayer games for the PlayStation platform.
The representative stated that Bend and Bluepoint, two exceptionally skilled teams, are cherished parts of the PlayStation Studios family, and we’re collaborating closely with both studios to decide on their upcoming projects.
The representative declined to comment on whether the cancellations might result in job losses, but according to a memo sent to employees and obtained by Bloomberg, the company is collaborating with Bend and Bluepoint to decide on upcoming projects. They aim to take all necessary steps to lessen the potential business impact as much as possible.
