About a month ago, Civilization VII came out simultaneously on PC and PS5. Since then, we’ve noticed both criticisms from PlayStation users and positive feedback for Firaxis’ newest release. Interestingly, it seems that usually cautious Sony is offering full refunds for the game, if requested.
A user in the Civilization subreddit is seeing increased attention, as they claim they got a complete refund for the game on PS5. They’ve shared what seems to be a snippet from a conversation with Sony’s customer service team, suggesting that only a small fraction of the evidence supports their claim.
There seems to be no solid evidence indicating it’s a scam, and some users in this discussion thread claim they managed to secure a refund for the game even though it was beyond the standard 14-day period. However, others report having trouble getting their money back from Sony, a situation that undoubtedly appears unusual to us.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve invested a significant amount of time playing Civilization VII on the PS5 Pro, and let me tell you, it’s been quite an adventure. Unfortunately, after numerous attempts, I couldn’t progress beyond 20 turns in over a dozen multiplayer games with a patient friend on PlayStation, due to frequent crashes and desynchronizations that forced us to postpone our plans.
Interestingly enough, our solo gameplay with Civilization VII has been quite seamless, clocking up several dozen hours without encountering any glitches or visual anomalies, unlike what other PS5 users have reported. As time goes by and we grow more accustomed to its daring design choices, we find ourselves increasingly fond of this installment in the long-standing series. However, it appears that not everyone else shares the same sentiment. The more we observe, the more puzzling it becomes.
