In the profitable Chinese market, mobile and computer devices hold dominant positions. However, this doesn’t deter Sony from putting in great effort to lure local gamers into their gaming console environment.
The business has just gained sole management over its hardware distribution within the nation, which had previously been shared with the Chinese entertainment company Oriental Pearl under a joint venture. Now, they’ve declared a short-term reduction in prices for their products in the country.
The Digital Edition PS5 Slim will be on sale from May 30th until June 18th during the shopping event known as 618. This event is significant because it commemorates the founding of JD.com, a well-known online retailer. During this period, the company plans to lower the price of the Digital Edition PS5 Slim from CN¥2,999 (approximately $416) to CN¥2,7999 (around $388).
This special offer coincides with the upcoming Days of Play event, starting later this week. During this event, prices for PS5 will decrease globally. It appears that unlike other companies increasing their prices, Sony aims to make the PS5 accessible to as many households as it can.
An advertisement for the PS5 in China features titles such as Split Fiction, Death Stranding 2: On the Shore, Astro Bot, and the homegrown hit, Black Myth: Wukong. It’ll be intriguing to observe how these games may influence the console’s sales figures.
