Warner Bros. has unveiled the detailed trailer for the upcoming movie “Companion,” featuring Sophie Thatcher from “Yellowjackets” and “Heretic,” alongside Jack Quaid, known for his roles in “The Boys” and “Scream” (2022). The initial teaser hinted at Iris, played by Thatcher, being trapped in a perilous relationship with Josh, portrayed by Quaid. However, the new trailer sheds light on an intriguing twist: Iris is a sexbot that Josh has been manipulating, and it seems she was initially unaware of her artificial origins. Once she discovers the truth, Iris enhances her intelligence and plots revenge against Josh and those who have mistreated her. This dark-comedy, sci-fi psychological thriller is set to hit theaters on January 31st.
New Line Cinema presents an unusual tale of love, where the death of a billionaire triggers a series of events for Iris and her companions during their getaway at his lakeside mansion over the weekend.
The movie “Companion” was written and directed by Drew Hancock, who has previously worked on “My Dead Ex” and “Suburgatory”. This production also features actors such as Lukas Gage from “Smile 2” and “Dead Boy Detectives”, Megan Suri of “Never Have I Ever” and “It Lives Inside”, Harvey Guillén known for his roles in “What We Do in the Shadows” and “Blue Beetle”, and Rupert Friend, best recognized from “High Desert” and “Asteroid City”. The team behind the successful film “Barbarian”, specifically Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, Zach Cregger, and Roy Lee, were the producers for this movie.
After the debut of “Companion”, Thatcher will reappear in “Yellowjackets” Season 3, set to premiere on Valentine’s Day exclusively on Paramount+ and Showtime. In our last encounter with Thatcher as young Natalie Scatorccio, we found her being crowned the new Antler Queen following Lottie’s proclamation that the wilderness had selected her. This development comes after Nat narrowly escaped death and cannibalism by the group when she drew the Queen of Hearts in their newly established ritual. However, a twist occurred as Javi met his demise instead, falling into the frozen lake following the ceremony.
At present, Quaid is deep in the filming process for Season 5 of “The Boys,” which marks the final chapter of this comic book adaptation series penned by Eric Kripke. During this time, you’ll find him also gearing up for another movie release, following closely behind “Companion.” In this upcoming flick titled “Novocaine,” Quaid portrays Nathan Caine in a high-octane comedy. Penned by Lars Jacobson and directed by the duo Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the film sees Quaid’s character, Nathan, uniquely unable to feel physical pain. Leveraging this extraordinary trait, Nathan rescues the love of his dreams, portrayed by Amber Midthunder, after she is abducted. Catch “Novocaine” in theaters on March 14th.
