The verdict is in for Soulja Boy‘s sexual assault civil trial.

On April 10th, the rapper known as “Crank That” (whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way) was found responsible for assault, sexual battery, gender violence, causing emotional distress, and failing to pay wages in a lawsuit filed anonymously by a woman referred to as Jane Doe, according to a press release from her lawyer that was obtained by USA Today.

In response to the lawsuit against Way, the jury decided to grant the plaintiff $4 million in compensation damages. The question of punitive damages will be addressed at a later point, as stated by Doe’s legal representatives.

Ron Zambrano, representing the client, expressed satisfaction that justice was served and the jury validated her allegations of physical and sexual assault in their verdict. He further shared that they are eager to proceed with the next phase of the trial, focusing on punitive damages.

TopMob News has attempted to get a response from Soulja Boy’s representative about the recent claims, but have yet to receive one. Historically, Soulja Boy’s spokesperson has refuted such allegations, stating that Soulja Boy would never physically harm or lay a hand on a woman, as reported by TMZ.

In 2021, Doe initiated a lawsuit against Way, claiming he committed physical and sexual assault while she worked as his personal assistant from 2018 to 2020, as reported by NBC News. In the court documents obtained by the news outlet, Doe stated that they were in a consensual relationship during this period. However, she alleged that Way would abuse her, followed by expressions of remorse afterward.

Throughout this violent partnership, as stated in the lawsuit, Defendant Way struck Plaintiff multiple times in the face (at least ten instances) by punching them square in the head.

The documents further claim that Doe asserted she was subjected to repeated sexual assaults by Way, with instances occurring as many as twice on certain days.

For a month-long court case, Way and his legal team contended that Doe was not a regular wage earner but rather agreed to perform tasks like running errands in return for lodging and meals, as reported by Rolling Stone. Additionally, he refuted Doe’s claims of abuse, labeling them “revolting” when he testified.

According to the testimony given by Way, he inquired whether she was open to sexual activity, and she consented without any resistance or signs of discomfort such as asking him to stop.
