Is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 coming to Xbox Game Pass?
Unlike many other PlayStation Studios games recently moved to PC platforms, Spider-Man 2 won’t be accessible via Xbox Game Pass at this time. While it’s technically not out of the question for it to appear there someday, the likelihood is very low.
Spider-Man 2 won’t be on Xbox Game Pass
During the PS4 era, Sony typically kept its exclusive games away from PC platforms like Steam. However, towards the end of this period and with the advent of the PS5 in 2020, Sony started to shift its policy. Nowadays, numerous classic and new PlayStation games have been adapted for PC, often becoming available months or years after their console debut. These range from contemporary narrative-driven adventures like God of War to open-world titles such as Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West, and even Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead Game Studios, which was made available on Steam at its release in 2024, turning out to be one of the year’s most played games and a top-tier PC game overall.
The upcoming title set to be added to the collection of PlayStation games playable on PC is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from 2023, due out next week on January 30. This highly acclaimed sequel follows 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, so it’s no wonder that PC gamers are eager to swing into action. Given the buzz surrounding this release, many are asking if they’ll be able to play it via Xbox Game Pass. After all, this all-inclusive subscription service has grown in popularity as a convenient way to access numerous games on PC for a monthly fee.
Based on current information, it appears unlikely that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be accessible via PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at the time of its release, given that the game is set to drop in just a week. Therefore, if you wish to play it, you’ll need to purchase it at its full price, estimated to be around $60-$70.
… and probably never will be. Probably.
Although Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass when it first releases, it’s possible that it might join the platform at some point in the future. However, given that Microsoft and Sony are fierce competitors, the likelihood of a Sony exclusive like this one ever appearing on Xbox Game Pass is quite low.
An exception to this rule is Death Stranding, which was accessible on PC Game Pass for approximately a year spanning from 2022 into early 2023. This occurred because 505 Games holds the publishing rights for the game’s PC version and chose to make it available through the service temporarily; Kojima Productions regaining the intellectual property rights from Sony is what allowed Death Stranding to be released on Xbox consoles last year.
If an event similar to Death Stranding’s case doesn’t occur regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man games (including Spider-Man 2 and its predecessors), it is unlikely they will join Xbox Game Pass. However, if circumstances change in a way that might make this possible, I’ll be certain to provide any new details here.
You can’t pre-order or buy Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC just yet, but here’s a fantastic opportunity to grab the previous two games – Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – at bargain prices. You can get Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for only $27.29, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for just $18.59, both from CDKeys. These deals are too good to miss if you’re keen on playing these games, so don’t hesitate and grab them while you can!
