Spider-Man Livestreams From the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New Look At Marvel Animated Series

As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming animated series, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man”, has piqued my interest like none other in recent memory. The synopsis and character roster alone promise a faithful adaptation that harks back to the classic Stan Lee-Steve Ditko comic run while also incorporating elements from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Check out the fresh take on everyone’s favorite neighborhood superhero, Spider-Man! Marvel Studios unveiled a festive sneak peek during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, marking Spidey’s return after a decade in the form of a redesigned balloon. But that’s not all! Just like his MCU character did in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, which featured a young Spider-Man (Tom Holland) documenting the events of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ through vlogging, this pre-suited Spidey (voiced by Hudson Thames) tried his hand at live-streaming by literally swinging into the parade in a teaser video. You can watch it below!

The new Marvel Animation series will premiere Jan. 29 on Disney+.

In this series titled “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” Hudson Thames from “Marvel’s What If…?” takes on the roles of both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, Colman Domingo from “Euphoria” portrays Norman Osborn as well as the Green Goblin, Zeno Robinson from “Transformers: Earthspark” plays Harry Osborn, Grace Song from “Kidding” steps into the character of Nico Minoru from the Runaways, Eugene Byrd from “Superman: Man of Tomorrow” becomes Lonnie Lincoln, Hugh Dancy from “Hannibal” assumes the roles of Otto Octavius and Doctor Octopus, Kari Wahlgren from “Star Trek: Lower Decks” depicts Aunt May, and Charlie Cox from “Daredevil: Born Again” portrays Matt Murdock as well as Daredevil.

Drawing inspiration from the timeless Stan Lee-Steve Ditko comic series of The Amazing Spider-Man and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeff Trammel’s (creator of Disney’s Amphibia and The Owl House, as well as Cartoon Network’s Craig of the Creek) upcoming series will see Spider-Man facing off against adversaries such as the Chameleon, the Scorpion, the Rhino, Speed Demon, and the Tarantula. As per the synopsis, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man follows Peter Parker’s transformation into Spider-Man, offering a unique journey and a visual style that pays homage to the character’s comic book origins.

Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studio’s head of streaming, television, and animation, described Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man as nothing short of fantastic to ComicBook. He also mentioned that the show closely resembles a slice from the original comics.

Peter Parker is once again navigating high school life while juggling his responsibilities as an aunt’s caretaker, struggling financially, and fulfilling his superhero duties,” Winderbaum explained. “This perfectly encapsulates the essence of Spider-Man. What Jeff Trammell did exceptionally well was create a group of characters that viewers will adore. The relationships that develop as the tension increases in the first season make for an emotionally engaging and thrilling experience. I really enjoy this show.
