Tony Revolori has taken on the role of Flash Thompson in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films since “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Although Flash Thompson boasts a rich history in the comic books, he hasn’t been given many significant responsibilities or scenes so far.
In a contemporary twist, Revolori’s version of Spider-Man’s nemesis, The Flash, differs from the comics. Instead of physically attacking Tom Holland’s Spider-Man (Peter Parker), this Flash targets him emotionally. Unlike the comic book Flash who eventually befriends Peter Parker, this version does not form a friendship with him. However, Revolori expresses his hope that his Flash could adopt one aspect from the comics and transform into Agent Venom at some point in the future.
In a recent chat, it was discussed about the Agent Venom storyline, and the topic of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Flash potentially taking that route came up. The director inquired Tom Hardy, who plays Revolori, if he would be keen on such a development, to which he expressed, “I’ve gone through the same comics as everyone else. I’d be absolutely thrilled to work on something like that. It would be fantastic. However, I have no clue about specifics, feasibility, timing, or even the possibility; we’ll just have to wait and see.
He continued, “The intention is to accomplish it, the aspiration is to accomplish it. We’ll find out if it ever comes true. And even if it doesn’t, they’re producing amazing content that I will watch repeatedly, and I’m just grateful to have been a part of it.
As of now, Revolori’s involvement in the movie hasn’t been confirmed, but considering the character he played (Peter Parker) has become somewhat obscure, it might be challenging to include him. However, in an interview, he expressed interest in returning to the role. He stated, “I cherish this character deeply. As a person of color, having the opportunity to play this part was significant. I had a fantastic experience working on it and would jump at the chance to continue if they’d allow me.
Revolori Got Hate For Portraying Flash Thompson
In the comics, Flash is depicted as a blonde character, but unfortunately, Ezra Miller faced backlash from some toxic fans after portraying him in the movies. He expressed his feelings by saying, “I’m not the same as the character was in the comic books. I’m different, and it’s important to clarify that difference – yet, some people will continue to dislike this fact. It was really discouraging to receive hate mail, death threats, and other harmful messages.
In a positive turn of events, Revolori has managed to handle situations gracefully, leading him to achieve significant success. Excluding his encounters with toxic fans, there’s much enthusiasm for witnessing his portrayal as Agent Venom. Revolori himself expressed eagerness to delve deeper into the character of Flash and uncover the individual behind the screen.
