Spider-Man Star Wants a Different Venom in the MCU: “The Dream Is To Do It”

Actor Tony Revolori, known for his role as Flash Thompson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man films, has expressed a desire to play Agent Venom on screen someday. In an interview with The Direct, Revolori was asked about the possibility of the Agent Venom storyline being adapted into a film. He acknowledged that it would be a fantastic opportunity but remained grateful for any role in the MCU. Regardless of his character’s future, he eagerly anticipates Marvel’s next project so he can enjoy watching it repeatedly.

Absolutely, I’ve read the same comics as everyone else, and I must admit, the idea of being involved in something like that is incredibly thrilling. It would be amazing, but I don’t know the specifics or if it will even happen. My hope and dream are to be a part of it, and we’ll see what the future holds. If it doesn’t come to fruition, I’ll still enjoy watching it, again and again. I’m just grateful for having been a part of it.

In 2017, Revolori first appeared as Flash with a modern twist in “Spider-Man: Homecoming”, followed by portraying the character in its sequels. A new chapter in Marvel’s Spider-Man saga titled “Brand New Day” is set for release in July 2026, but it remains unclear if Revolori will reprise his role. In addition to Tom Holland, Sadie Sink has been confirmed as part of the cast for this upcoming production.

Following the conclusion of Sony’s Venom trilogy starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in “Venom: The Last Dance” late last year, there were whispers about the possibility of an Agent Venom film, which could keep the successful Venom franchise going without requiring Hardy’s return. However, since then, there has been no news on this front; with the disappointment of “Kraven the Hunter,” Sony decided to temporarily halt development on new installments in their Spider-Man Universe series.

It’s yet unknown if this will occur, but it could make sense for Marvel Studios to introduce the character of Venom in a new way. Tom Hardy’s brief appearance as Venom in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home is the only time the character has been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) so far. One possibility for Marvel Studios to utilize Venom without immediately recasting Eddie Brock is by adopting the Agent Venom storyline, which focuses on Flash Thompson. This approach would allow the MCU’s Venom to develop independently, as the plot would deviate from the original narrative. While some changes may be necessary (in the comics, Flash enlists in the military and bonds with the symbiote after being injured in action), there is still a fragment of the Venom symbiote present in Earth-616. An Agent Venom film could potentially resolve the cliffhanger left by No Way Home.

Absolutely, it’s possible that Marvel Studios is considering replacing Flash Thompson now. The spell at the end of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” offers them an opportunity to introduce a new supporting cast for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, featuring characters who weren’t in the initial trilogy. Characters like Sink, part of the “Brand New Day” team, might give us insights into Marvel’s plans. It seems they might be aiming to bring in fresh faces for this new phase, with this film potentially serving as a soft reboot for the series. Fingers crossed, there will still be room for Tom Holland’s previous co-star, Jacob Batalon (Revolori), in the MCU going forward, given his lively performances.
