Spider-Man's Andrew Garfield Says Opportunities Are "Endless" for More Peter Parker Stories

As a gamer who’s been through numerous superhero adventures, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when it comes to the Spider-Man saga. Andrew Garfield‘s portrayal of Peter Parker was undeniably unique and intriguing, and his potential return to the big screen has me spinning webs with anticipation.

Currently, Andrew Garfield isn’t planning to star in a fourth Spider-Man movie, but he hasn’t closed the door completely. During a recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival, he dismissed rumors about his potential appearance in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film. Yet, he admitted that there are numerous possibilities for his portrayal of Peter Parker and the main hurdle isn’t technical feasibility, but rather whether they should or will produce another one.

Ever since his appearance in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” Garfield has been open to reprising his role as Spider-Man, and fans have eagerly anticipated more of him in this capacity. Additionally, viewers have reassessed the previous films starring Garfield, such as “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” and its predecessor, experiencing a surge in popularity following his crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Garfield expressed that the potential stories for that character seem limitless. He didn’t suggest it should or would happen, but rather, there always seems to be room for more tales with this character.

In a similar vein to what he’s mentioned before, the actor discussed in the official Spider-Man: No Way Home Art Book how the events of the MCU movie impacted his character.

Garfield commented, “Regardless if we capture it on camera or not, the tale continues somewhere in the cosmos. This character has unlimited possibilities and various interpretations, so yes, I believe he’s actively engaging in some endeavor elsewhere.

The ongoing theme of an unending struggle is deeply ingrained in contemporary superhero comics, particularly noticeable in titles like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its subsequent installments. A sneak peek at what’s to come in Beyond the Spider-Verse, revealed post the success of No Way Home, features both Garfield and Tobey Maguire reprising their roles as Spider-Men.

In his own words, Andrew Garfield described their first experience wearing the Spider-Man suit together as nothing short of amusing, likening it to three regular guys simply enjoying each other’s company off-set. However, he also admitted to feeling like a fan when they were all suited up and performing iconic poses. There were casual discussions about everyday matters, such as bathroom breaks, and sharing personal tips for navigating the suit. Tom was envious of Garfield’s convenience with his suit’s zippers, as he had to use his nose to handle his phone due to limited hand access. Beyond these playful exchanges, they delved into deeper conversations about their individual experiences playing Spider-Man and shared insights with Amy Pascal, who has been involved in the character’s journey across nine films including ‘Spider-Verse.’ This collaboration was a meaningful and eye-opening experience for Pascal, recognizing the significant investment of time and energy she had put into this character. A touching moment occurred when Garfield improvised a line expressing his affection for Maguire and Holland, symbolizing his genuine love for them in the movie.
