Spider-Man’s Flash Thompson Aims to Transform into Agent Venom in the MCU

Actor Tony Revolori, known for his roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, expressed his desire to see his character, Flash Thompson, develop into the comic book character “Agent Venom” on-screen.

Since the release of “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” Tony Revolori has portrayed Flash Thompson in all Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man films. Interestingly, his character is more often used for amusing moments rather than donning a costume to engage in superhero antics alongside Tom Holland’s web-slinging hero.

It’s uncertain at this point whether Flash Thompson will appear in Destin Daniel Cretton’s upcoming film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”. Despite this, actor Tony Revolori has expressed enthusiasm about returning to the role if offered the chance, stating that he would “love to” do so.

During a private chat with Russ Milheim at the Marshmallow premiere, the actor portraying Flash Thompson shared his aspirations for acquiring superpowers similar to those held by Tom Holland’s Spider-Man character, expressing his desire to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Regarding the possibility of portraying the Symbiote-wielding superhero, Revolori expressed his desire by saying, “I’d love to give it a shot,” but added, “We’ll have to wait and see if it actually comes to pass.

In a potential scenario, fans are eager to witness you as Agent Venom. Has this been a topic of discussion between you, Marvel, and Sony? And if so, would it be something you’d be keen on delving into? Have you given any thought to how your interpretation of the character might fit into that role?

Absolutely! You understand, I’ve gone through the comics that everyone has read, and I must say, I’d be incredibly thrilled if given the chance to work on something similar. It sounds amazing! As for specifics like what, when, or even if, those details are still uncertain. My goal is to participate, my aspiration is to contribute. We’ll see if it materializes. If it doesn’t, I’m confident that they’ll continue producing fantastic content that I’ll enjoy immensely and rewatch numerous times. Regardless, I’m just grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this project.

In a brand-new chapter titled “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Tom Holland will reprise his much-anticipated role as Peter Parker, the web-slinging superhero known as Spider-Man. This time around, he’ll navigate his heroic duties while remaining an enigma in New York City, with his secret identity yet to be unveiled. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026, and will also feature new franchise member Sadie Sink alongside Holland.

Will Agent Venom Ever Come to the MCU?

Although Tony Revolori expresses interest in playing Agent Venom within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it doesn’t automatically guarantee that he will secure the role.

For the uninitiated, Agent Venom represents a heroic version of the Venom symbiote. Typically, this symbiote can contaminate its hosts, transforming them into the fearsome, fang-baring Venom antagonist.

In a different turn of events, the persona of Agent Venom emerges when a mature, post-university man named Flash Thompson assumes this role following his connection with the Venom symbiote. He manages to curb its darker impulses using a special medication designed for that purpose.

As a fellow admirer of cinematic marvels, I find myself donning the mantle of an extraordinary alien warrior, with the help of the symbiote. Fighting side by side with Spider-Man, I employ the formidable power of Venom to serve justice rather than wreak havoc.

Though the Symbiote character was subtly unveiled in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the post-credits scene in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, it’s important to note that an Agent Venom series or appearance is yet to be imminent.

In the world of comics, Flash Thompson doesn’t assume the role of Agent Venom until well into Spider-Man’s career as the web-slinging superhero. This transformation occurs post-college, after Flash returns from military service and leaves his bullying days behind. Instead of tormenting Peter, he develops a friendship with him.

As Spider-Man: Brand New Day commences, Peter Parker (alongside the young ensemble of characters) is preparing for their first college experience. This implies that Tom Holland’s Flash character might not be quite mature enough yet to handle a task as significant as managing the Venom symbiote.

Additionally, it’s likely that viewers are eagerly anticipating a genuine Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayal of Venom prior to encountering Agent Venom. As of now, this hasn’t occurred, but signs point towards Venom potentially making an appearance in the MCU in the near future.
