Splatoon Raiders Announced for Nintendo Switch 2

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share the news that after a noticeable absence from recent showcases, Nintendo has unexpectedly unveiled “Splatoon Raiders,” a spin-off game set for release on the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. For those eagerly waiting, here’s a link to the “Research Report from Squid Research Lab” video below, which offers a first look at this exciting new addition to the Splatoon series.

In the game known as “Splatoon Raiders”, players assume the character of a mechanic embarking on an adventure to the Spirhalite Islands, accompanied by Shiver, Frye, and Deep Cut (also known as Big Man) from Splatoon 3. Guided by a map discovered in a basement, they travel to this mysterious destination via helicopter. However, their journey takes an unexpected turn when the helicopter crashes upon arrival.

At the core of the enigmatic Spirhalite Islands lies an unusual swirling abyss emanating a radiant light, which appears to be causing their troubles. The team finds themselves stranded in this desolate location, and while the game’s recurring mechanic remains a mystery, certain scenes depict Deep Cut fishing and the protagonist using Big Man as a weapon. Accompanying the player is a mysterious machine.

Based on the water-bound fishing setup in the gameplay footage, it seems possible that Splatoon Raiders could be a survival and crafting sandbox title. As of now, no release date has been given, and the trailer hints that ongoing research is being conducted. Since Nintendo will be at Gamescom this year, we might get more information there. Keep an eye out for updates in the meantime.
