In just two days after its release, the latest cooperative PS5 title from Hazelight, Split Fiction, surpassed a million units in sales, making it the studio’s fastest-selling game ever. Previously, A Way Out took two weeks and It Takes Two a month to reach this milestone.
On Bluesky, the Swedish development team shared their latest sales update, expressing their heartfelt gratitude: “The enthusiasm you all have for our game is simply incredible! Here at Hazelight, we’re absolutely thrilled — and we can’t help but delight in your fantastic responses!” In the UK alone, it was last week’s top-selling physical game, and a whopping 89% of sales were for the PS5 edition.
Due to the cooperative nature of the game, Split Fiction, it is possible that as many as 2 million individuals could have begun playing over the weekend since the game needs at least two players and offers a Friend Pass, which allows anyone, regardless of ownership, to participate in the game.
In our Split Fiction PS5 review, we were thoroughly impressed, giving it a perfect score of 10/10. We believe this game is a testament to the exceptional talent of Josef Fares and his team. They’ve crafted a unique formula that allows for an extensive variety of gameplay, which is further elevated by its innovative cooperative design.
