Split Fiction Looks Set for Hollywood as Bidding War Begins for Movie Adaptation

As a thrilled gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement over the latest masterpiece by Hazelight Studios – “Split Fiction“. Freshly unveiled, this captivating game has already sparked discussions about its potential cinematic transformation!

That’s according to a new report from Variety, citing sources at GDC in San Francisco.

It appears that Story Kitchen, a company focused on adapting games into films or TV series, is currently gathering potential cast and team members’ names. Several Hollywood studios have shown interest in acquiring the film rights.

Previously, Story Kitchen has been involved in producing the Sonic movie trilogy as well as the Netflix series, ‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’. They are also working on several other projects. Notably, they have entered into an agreement with Amazon to develop a film adaptation of It Takes Two.

At present, there isn’t much else to share about the topic, but Variety hints that further information regarding the project will be revealed later as they keep a close watch on developments.

The novel “Split Fiction” is experiencing tremendous success, garnering widespread praise from reviewers and demonstrating robust initial sales figures.

The narrative revolves around two novice authors who find themselves trapped within the constructs of their self-created fictional realms, seamlessly moving from grim sci-fi dystopias to enchanting fantasy landscapes.

It seems plausible that this concept could make for an entertaining action-adventure film. However, what truly sets Split Fiction apart is its interactive nature, tailored expressly for two players to enjoy together. Visualizing a less complex movie based on the same premise isn’t difficult, but translating the unique charm of this game from one medium to another might result in significant loss—perhaps even more so than with other games due to its distinctive interactivity.

Regarding the potential film, given the timeline involved, it remains uncertain for the time being as it could be quite some time before we see any results.
