As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I’ve seen games come and go, some leaving lasting impressions while others are quickly forgotten. The upcoming title, Split Fiction, from Hazelight Studios, has piqued my interest, not just for its intriguing narrative but also for the technical requirements it demands.
The upcoming team-based game from Hazelight Studios is titled “Split Fiction.” In this game, protagonists Mio and Zoe are writers who step into a simulated world where their preferred fictional settings become reality. However, when things take a turn for the worse, they must collaborate to navigate the situation. Similar to “It Takes Two,” this game promotes teamwork, but it’s important to note that PC hardware requirements for running the game are significantly higher compared to other titles.
According to its Steam listing, the game’s minimum specifications necessitate an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and a graphics card like the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB or AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB. This configuration offers a resolution of 1080p at 30 frames per second with Low settings. The suggested specifications, on the other hand, call for an Intel Core i7-11700k or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU, 16 GB of RAM, and a GeForce RTX 3070 8GB or Radeon 6700 XT 12GB graphics card. This setup ensures a resolution of 1440p at 60 frames per second with High settings.
Each setup necessitates approximately 85 gigabytes of storage capacity, which is noticeably larger compared to the 50GB required for “It Takes Two.” The long-term effect on gameplay duration remains to be seen.
Split Fiction launches on March 6th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
