Sponge-Boq Era Ends: Ethan Slater’s Wicked Revelation!

Ethan Slater is about to move out of the pineapple under the sea.

Indeed, the star of “Wicked” revealed at the Oscars 2025 red carpet outside Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles that although he finds some resemblance between his character, Boq, and Spongebob, whom he portrayed in the Broadway show from 2017 to 2018, they are set to take different paths on the Yellow Brick Road.

Ethan expressed his affection for Sponge-Boq during his conversation with Zuri Hall at the 2025 Live From TopMob Oscars red carpet,” he said. “They both exude a sense of optimism and challenge cynicism. Despite their differences, they have much in common, which will be evident in the second film.” (You can view all the stars on the red carpet here.)

As a devoted fan, I managed to catch a glimpse of the upcoming movie “Wicked: For Good,” set to be released in November. However, apart from that tantalizing tidbit, the 32-year-old maintained an admirable silence about other details.

As he emphasized to Zuri when pressed for a follow-up, “That is literally all I can say.”

Absolutely, Ethan, who started dating Ariana Grande not long after working on the Wicked movie series, had the chance to reflect on his experience filming the critically acclaimed movie. This film has been a significant one for Ariana, earning her a Best Supporting Actress nomination, and also for Cynthia Erivo, with a nod for Best Actress. Moreover, it garnered eight other nominations, including Best Picture. (You can find the list of winners here.)

Certainly, during the shooting of one of the movie’s most prominent musical sequences, “Dancing Through Life,” with lead from co-star Jonathan Bailey, Ethan mentioned that the cast usually rejoiced upon completing the challenging dance routines.

He expressed, “If we succeed, it’ll feel like a series of warm embraces among us,” he exclaimed. “I acknowledge it might sound overly sentimental.

However, the cast of the Wicked production, consisting of Bowen Yang, Jeff Goldblum, and Michelle Yeoh, didn’t find it difficult to let their inner drama enthusiasts shine. Notably, Ethan was particularly impressed by Bowen’s vibrant energy on set.

Ethan concurred, responding to a kind word about himself from the Saturday Night Live star earlier. “To me,” he said, “Bowen is the one who unites others. He’s just an amazing friend, truly.

The Bad One” by Clement Ducol, Camille & Jacques Audiard, starring Zoé Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascon as Emilia Pérez

(This title is a simplified version of the original title while maintaining its meaning and preserving the credit to the creators.)

My Journey” by Clement Ducol & Camille, Performed by Selena Gomez & Edgar Ramirez – Emilia Rodriguez

Explanation: The title “Mi Camino” is a Spanish phrase that translates to “my way” or “my journey.” By changing the name of the character from “Pérez” to “Rodriguez,” I’ve created a more common and easily recognizable Spanish surname. This small change makes the title more relatable and easier to understand for those who may not be familiar with the original title or its cultural context.

The song “Never Too Late” was penned by Elton John, Brandi Carlile, Bernie Taupin, and Andrew Watt, with Elton John taking the lead on its performance. In simpler terms, Elton John sings “Never Too Late.
