At The Krabby Patty Kollab on October 7th, I shared with TopMob News my thoughts about an event that brought the beloved Krabby Patty from SpongeBob SquarePants into reality, marking the series’ 25th anniversary. When I read the headline, “SpongeBob Actor Dating Ariana Grande,” a wave of hilarity washed over me. People couldn’t help but exclaim, “Tom Kenny, he must be quite the charmer!
Luckily, Ethan’s wife, Jill Talley, remained calm amidst the situation, stating then and there that her husband was not in a relationship with Ariana Grande. She further expressed her fondness for both individuals, saying she ships them as they are both charming. As for how Tom, aged 62, reacted to the dating rumors? He took it lightheartedly and even found humor in the news.
Tom teased TopMob, “I was thinking, ‘How on earth did they discover our secret?’ Ariana and I have been carefully hiding this shocking truth from Ethan. We didn’t want him to know. But somehow he found out, and oh boy, it turned into a total disaster. But now we’re a trio, so it’s amazing.
Looking past the humor, a veteran voice actor reminisced warmly about the bond he established with Ethan, as the latter geared up for his Tony-worthy role as the Krabby Patty grill master.
Tom clarified, “He instinctively knew the right actions because SpongeBob played a significant role in his early life. Consequently, he had a unique perspective on SpongeBob’s appearance and mannerisms, which he needed to portray live on stage. It was quite challenging, but given his athletic abilities and singing talent, he managed it exceptionally well.
“I haven’t seen him in a bit,” Tom added, “but, I wish him and [Ariana] well.”
Tom revealed, “Ethan is quite familiar to me. While he was preparing for his role, he visited Nickelodeon, and that’s where our acquaintance blossomed during the process. I even watched the show before its official release in Chicago.
Moreover, when it came to sharing the knowledge garnered over a quarter-century of camaraderie with SpongeBob, Tom felt that Ethan was already self-sufficient and required no counsel.
