I myself have been thrilled by Ben Miller’s captivating performance in Austin, a delight for fans of the talented actor and a treasure trove for those who adore his Death in Paradise character, Detective Inspector Poole. It has provided us all with an engaging spectacle to appreciate recently.
Beyond just their co-existence in the ‘Paraverse’ and Austin’s world, there are additional connections tying these two entities together.
The comedy-drama titled “Austin” presents Miller as a character who’s a writer, entangled in a social media scandal he initiated by discovering an adult son from a past affair with an Australian woman. Notably, this production includes an actor who is also well-known from the Australian spin-off of Death in Paradise titled “Return to Paradise.

In addition to his role as bartender Luke in Austin, Tai Hara can be seen portraying Glenn Strong, the former boyfriend of lead detective Mackenzie Clarke (played by Anna Samson), in Return to Paradise.
As a cinephile, I found myself drawn back to the enchanting shores of Dolphin Cove, finding solace in its familiarity, years after my London Metropolitan Police days. My heart was heavy with anticipation, eagerly awaiting updates on the uncertain future of my career in England, following allegations of evidence tampering.
In the absence of a definite plan for her next move, she is offered an opportunity by Philomena, who’s in charge at Dolphin Cove Police Station.
She meets up again with various individuals from her past, among them Glenn – a former fiancé – requiring them to move past their history and collaborate moving forward.
A fan pointed out on social media while watching the new Ben Miller series Austin: “I noticed an interesting link. In this show, there’s a character named Barman Luke, played by Tai Hara. Coincidentally, Tai Hara also portrays Glenn Strong in Paradise. It turns out that Glenn was once Mac’s fiancé.
Hara is also known for roles in Colin From Accounts, Home and Away and Madame Secretary.
