Currently, the popular “Spy x Family” manga is unfolding its Term Break Arc in Chapter 109. This storyline takes an unexpected twist as the Forger Family attends the annual Winter Sheep Festival in Berlint. There, Anya and Yor encounter Donovan Desmond’s wife, Melinda. Given her significant position, Melinda plays a pivotal role in Operation Strix. Although Anya is consistently trying to assist Loid with his mission, the primary objective remains elusive. Loid notices minimal advancement from Plan B of the mission, specifically, the Friendship Scheme between Anya and Damian. Consequently, he places his hopes on Yor forging a connection with Melinda instead, which is Plan C of Operation Strix, also known as the Mommy-Friendship Scheme.
In the world of Spy x Family, the collaboration between Yor and Melinda has proven incredibly successful. The two bonded for the first time at the Hall of Clairvoyants, where Melinda concealed her role as a Fortune Teller. She presented it as merely a pastime, admitting to being an amateur but still finding pleasure in her work. Anya, with her unique abilities, quickly discerned that Melinda was dealing with troubles related to her husband. Yor, not possessing Anya’s powers, didn’t pick up on the same cues.
Upon observing Melinda’s emotional turmoil, Yor advises Melinda to consult Loid at the Berlint General Hospital. However, Melinda makes a startling revelation about Donovan’s true identity, which leaves everyone stunned. Interestingly, some popular fan accounts suggest that the manga may have been hinting at this twist all along through the scars on Donovan’s head.

Spy x Family Fan Theory Simplifies Donovan Desmond’s Identity
From my perspective, Melinda’s claim that Donovan is an alien has sent shockwaves through the Spy x Family community. It’s plausible she might be deceiving us or simply convinced of Donovan’s extraterrestrial origins. Yet, it’s important to remember that the universe of Spy x Family could indeed harbor beings from beyond our planet.
If Melinda is truthful about this, Loid finds himself up against a formidable adversary far more powerful than he initially agreed to confront. As per a widely shared fan post by @tanjirou on platform X (formerly Twitter), the odd scars on Donovan’s head might suggest he underwent experiments. These symmetrical scars run along both sides of his skull, which is rather peculiar. Given his human form, this fan suggests that an alien entity was implanted within him.
It’s hard to believe that Donovan has an alien form that resembles a human given he fathered children with Melinda. However, Demetrius shares his father’s personality, while Damian is just an ordinary boy. Interestingly enough, if this theory holds up, it would mirror the character of Kenjaku from “Jujutsu Kaisen,” one of the main antagonists. Just like Donovan, Kenjaku was an ancient sorcerer who could swap bodies by transplanting brains. The only way to distinguish him was through the scars on his forehead, similar to the scars Donovan might have.
In Spy x Family Chapter 110, due for release on January 19th, 2025, we may gain additional insights about Donovan’s background. So far, the series hasn’t provided any solid evidence suggesting the existence of extraterrestrials. However, there are some peculiarities in the world, such as Anya and Bond’s supernatural abilities. Given that they were both previously subjects of experiments before joining the Forger family, it wouldn’t be unexpected if the organization had conducted similar tests on other beings too.
