Good news for fans of gloomy games, Square Enix is set to host a 15th-anniversary livestream for the acclaimed Nier series. Since the launch of the cult hit NieR: Automata eight years ago, we’ve been eagerly waiting to find out what Yoko Taro has in store for us next.
On April 19th, viewers worldwide will join a live-streamed anniversary event, enduring nearly three hours of suspenseful anticipation for an answer, as fans of the series might feel a sense of existential angst. Notably confirmed to participate are Yoko Taro, the creative director known for his quirky style, along with producer Yosuke Saito, composer Keiichi Okabe, and senior game designer Takahisa Taura from Automata.
Audience members can anticipate an exceptional live performance, and it’s likely that Taro, donning his distinctive Emil-head mask, will make an appearance. However, there’s no hint of a fresh game announcement on the horizon just yet. Given that Automata has reached a staggering nine million copies sold and seems to be winding down its releases, it feels appropriate for a new installment in the series to emerge soon.
Instead of “Suffer through all of eternity,” you could say, “Share your anticipation patiently in the comments below.
