Squid Game season 2 trailer sees Gi-hun return to the game – this time on a mission

As a movie enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless cinematic juggernauts, I must say that Squid Game‘s return feels like a breath of fresh air. Three long years have passed since its initial, unexpected success, and it’s only natural for fans to feel a sense of anticipation bordering on obsession.


Fans have eagerly anticipated the second season of Squid Game, which shocked everyone by turning into an instant success on Netflix as its premiere season.

Three years and a couple of months since the first season ended, and just under two months before the second season debuts, an exciting new trailer has emerged, offering fans their most accurate preview to date about what’s in store for them.

In the new trailer, it’s Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who is back in the game again, yet this time, his goal is to dismantle it altogether.

Under duress, the preview shows him confessing truthfully to his competition peers: he’s no stranger to such games.

The upcoming season’s intriguing storyline remains shrouded in mystery, yet it’s clear that the games continue, the Front Man returns, and Player 456 is determined to bring an end to the misery.

Reading the script, I sensed a more profound emotional depth unfolding in season 2. It leaves viewers asking themselves, ‘What’s next in this tale?’ due to the numerous unexpected plot developments.

He noted further that the success of the initial run did not automatically increase the pressure for season 2. Instead, he suggested, “there’s a very organic link and progression between these seasons which the audience is going to find truly enjoyable”.

This week, news surfaced that filmmaker David Fincher has been planning to create an English adaptation of a popular series for Netflix, with production set to begin in the coming year.

The question remains if the upcoming series will draw from the original South Korean version for its plot, or if it will tell a brand new story within the same fictional universe.
