The initial plan for Squid Game was to create a standalone dystopian survival thriller series. However, due to an extraordinarily positive response when it debuted on Netflix, the storyline was broadened and continued. A second season came out in late December 2024, over three years later, and a third is scheduled for this summer’s premiere.
In summary, season three picks up right where season two ended, as it was shot consecutively with the previous one. The future of the narrative is still unknown, but there are many hints about what’s in store for us ahead.
When Will ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 Premiere?
The much-anticipated Squid Game Season 3 is scheduled to debut on Friday, June 27, 2025. On that day, all episodes of the season will become available simultaneously. As of now, the number of episodes in the upcoming season remains undisclosed. Previously, Season 1 comprised nine episodes, while Season 2 consisted of only seven.
In simple terms, the captivating series titled “Squid Game,” produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk, can only be viewed on Netflix. Aside from geographical restrictions, this thrilling show can be accessed by every Netflix user, even those with a Basic subscription plan.
What Is ‘Squid Game’ Season 3 About?
In Season 3, the action resumes with the survivors taking up the struggle again, engaging in even more lethal contests. The villains from previous seasons, the most detestable characters, have also been given a front-row seat to watch the events unfold, much like they did during the final stages of the games in Season 1.
Wi Ha-joon, known as Hwang Jun-ho, the younger sibling of the Front Man and a former officer, persists in seeking the island alongside others, driven by his determination to rescue Gi-hun and halt the games. However, he remains unaware that Sea Captain Park (Oh Dal-su) is not an ally but rather a traitor, deliberately guiding him away from the game locations instead of towards them. Jun-ho assumes that Park rescued him after he was wounded by the Front Man. In truth, Park might have been dispatched by the Front Man to monitor his brother and ensure he doesn’t interfere with the games’ progression.
Viewers are aware, from the post-credits scene in Season 2, that a new character named Cheol-su is set to debut. He’s the romantic interest of the giant robot doll Young-hee in the “Red Light, Green Light” game. This fresh robotic figure will play a significant role in one of the upcoming games. Moreover, the creator hints at revealing how In-ho earned the title of Front Man. Another crucial character this season will be Jun-hee’s baby. Creator Dong-hyuk has confirmed that the child will not only impact Kim Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri) but also decisively influence the fate of everyone involved.

Although he recognizes that there’s a reason he is still alive, he remains perplexed about the purpose behind it.
The games have fresh and violent twists, one featuring jump rope play. Bodies falling, squabbles, and chilling shrieks are common occurrences.
