Enthusiasts of the Squid Game series have been anxiously counting down the days until the third and concluding season arrives this Summer, as Netflix is poised to unveil fresh information about it shortly. The second season of Squid Game was released towards the end of last year and achieved even greater popularity than its initial season. This was surprising given the long wait since the premiere of the first season, and the suspense has only grown thanks to the cliffhanger that left fans on tenterhooks, eagerly awaiting the final episodes set for release later in the year.
The announcement of Squid Game Season 3 coincided with the second season release, with creator Hwang Dong-hyuk hinting that this could be the concluding chapter of Gi-Hun’s tale. Fans are eagerly waiting to find out how things will wrap up, and we might get some answers soon as Netflix has scheduled a TUDUM 2025 event on May 31st, where One Piece Season 2 will also be showcased. Excitingly, Squid Game Season 3 is expected to reveal fresh content during this event.
2025’s TUDUM event – a worldwide festival honoring our greatest talents across films and series, streamed live on Netflix at 8 PM Eastern Time / 5 PM Pacific Time on May 31st. When Does Squid Game Season 3 Come Out?
The third season of “Squid Game” is set to air on June 27th, exclusively on Netflix. This will mark the conclusion of the series, and it will continue directly from where the second season left off, with the huge cliffhanger. The number of episodes in the new season hasn’t been disclosed yet, but it’s expected to be thrilling regardless. Previously released first look images offer a glimpse into the upcoming season, and Netflix’s TUDUM 2025 update could bring even more exciting news such as a potential teaser or full trailer given how close the final episodes are to being released.
In simple terms, Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun will reprise their roles as Seung Gi-Hun and the Front Man in Season 3, along with several other characters who made it through the second season. Although Gi-Hun attempted to stop the game, the post-credits scene at the end of Season 2 hinted that the games would resume immediately when Season 3 is aired. This suggests that not many characters may survive until the show’s conclusion, despite the audience’s fondness for them.
Is Squid Game Really Going to End?
In the possible conclusion of Gi-Hun’s story in “Squid Game” Season 3, it’s clear that the franchise isn’t wrapping up altogether. On top of speculations about a second season titled “Squid Game: The Challenge“, there’s also David Fincher’s ongoing work on an English adaptation of “Squid Game“. Despite the original creator not yet confirming spinoffs, they remain a possibility.
In an interview after the premiere of Squid Game Season 2, Hwang Dong-hyuk expressed that during the filming of season one, he had said there would never be another season. However, if the right character or story arises in the future, a potential return might occur. He also mentioned considering a spinoff as an alternative. Despite the upcoming conclusion this Spring and the massive success of Squid Game on Netflix, it’s possible that this may not be the definitive end to the series.
