Toward the finale of Season 2, Gi-hun managed to rally a band of competitors to initiate an insurrection within the games, seizing weapons from guards and aiming for the command center. Regrettably, this rebellion crumbled, resulting in the demise of many of Gi-hun’s associates, including his longtime friend Park Jung-bae. Though Gi-hun escaped death, he was apprehended by Hwang In-ho, also known as the Front Man, who masqueraded as Player 001 within the games. The latest teaser for Squid Game Season 3 showcases the repercussions of Gi-hun’s thwarted uprising, with him shackled to a bunk bed on the main player floor and sporting bloodstains on his shoulders. A menacing figure hovers above him as a disheartened Gi-hun gazes at them.
Squid Game Season 3 Promo Hints at Gi-hun’s Front Man Reckoning
The mysterious figure in the picture seems to suggest it’s the Front Man, yet there’s a possibility it’s merely one of the guards due to how the photo was taken. Throughout the games, the Front Man has been disguising himself as an ordinary player, mirroring Oh Il-nam’s move from Season 1. He’s been cultivating a false relationship with Gi-hun and his crew, helping them in the games while secretly mocking them. If this figure is indeed the Front Man, he might be confronting Gi-hun to gloat about Gi-hun’s unsuccessful rebellion that resulted in the deaths of his closest allies. Since Gi-hun didn’t learn Player 001 was the Front Man until Season 2, this image could show the Front Man revealing his true identity to Gi-hun.
In the anticipated second season of “Squid Game,” only three out of the six games were featured, leaving many to assume that the remaining three games will take center stage in the third and final season. Fans also surmise that since Gi-hun has survived up until now, his character will continue to participate in the remaining games. Given that Gi-hun is back in the main playing room against his will, it seems likely he’ll be compelled to play the rest of the games. With Gi-hun having already survived nine games in the series, one may wonder if he stands a chance of making it through the last three.
