If things don’t alter, the contest doesn’t conclude.” This is what the disguised Leader (Lee Byung-hun) informed Player 456 (Lee Jung-jae) in Squid Game season 2, when the victor of the 33rd Squid Game decided to return and bring an end to the lethal games forever.
456, one of the few remaining players, has successfully navigated challenges such as Red Light, Green Light, Dalgona, Tug-of-War, Marbles, Glass Bridge, a Six-Legged Pentathlon, and Mingle during the third and last season of the Netflix show. These trials are briefly shown in the trailer for the upcoming Squid Game season 3, hinting at the climactic games ahead.
Gi-hun speaks solemnly as the final Squid Game, revisiting the playground of his 2020 victory, unfolds. In the footage, Young-hee’s motion-sensing Red Light, Green Light doll is back, playing a game of Jump Rope with Cheol-su, who was first introduced in the season finale. Moreover, there’s a maze challenge where players are divided into either red or blue teams according to gumballs dispensed from a machine.
In my perspective, as a dedicated fan, I’m excited to delve into Season 3, which will explore the resilience and determination of Gi-hun as he grapples with the aftermath of his failed attempts. This is based on what the series creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, shared with Netflix’s Tudum. The revolt that tragically took the life of Gi-hun’s best friend Jung-bae, at the hands of Front Man — who infiltrated the games undercover as Young-il — will undoubtedly shape Gi-hun’s journey moving forward.

“He’s deeply disheartened following the loss of everything he had and seeing his hard work amounting to nothing,” Hwang remarked. “However, the narrative takes an intriguing twist, challenging whether Gi-hun can conquer his embarrassment and rebound to demonstrate that human values – such as morality and compassion – can persist in a ruthless setting.” As the leader explained, the only method to halt these games is by altering the world itself.
The preview hints at a confrontation where Gi-hun and Front Man will square off, with the latter questioning, “Player 456, is your belief in humanity still intact?
The cast for season 3 of Squid Game features Wi Ha-jun portraying Hwang Jun-ho, Yim Si-wan as Myung-gi or Player 333, Kang Ha-neul in the role of Dae-ho (Player 388), Park Sung-hoon as Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yang Dong-geun playing Yong-sik (Player 007), Kang Ae-sim as Geum-ja (Player 149), Jo Yuri taking on Jun-hee (Player 222), Lee David in the part of Min-su (Player 125), Roh Jae-won as Nam-gyu (Player 124), and Park Gyu-young portraying No-eul.
