STALKER 2 1.1.4 Patch Notes

Moving on from the two-month mark since the release of “STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl“, there are still some issues for developer GSC Game World to address and smooth out.

In a recent conversation, the CEO and game director Sergiy Grygorovych openly admitted that while the game could have used a bit more development time, the team was practically out of resources at that point. As a result, he chose to release the game early and make necessary improvements later on.

STALKER 2 has now been updated a few times, and the general consensus among fans is that it’s progressing positively. The recent update significantly improved the game’s stability and eliminated some annoying (and at times, mission-halting) bugs that hindered players from finishing significant story missions.

Following the resolution of major flaws, Team GSC Game World had an opportunity to address technical challenges with the project.

Some enthusiasts find it quite literal, perhaps even exaggerated, on the developer’s part: the list of updates for the initial patch of the year in the game STALKER 2 consists of a mere five entries.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl 1.1.4 Patch Notes

In 2025, the initial update for STALKER 2 was focused on addressing fundamental problems that have impacted the game’s playability since its launch.

As a passionate player, I’ve been encountering some troubling performance issues that seemed to crop up over time or in certain spots within the game. Thankfully, the recently released patch 1.1.4 seems to be addressing some of these concerns.

In simple terms, it’s not shocking that STALKER 2 isn’t getting much content updates since it’s a technical patch. However, the file size of 126GB for PC players to update to version 1.1.4 is quite unexpected, especially considering it’s only five items being updated.

Here are the fixes included in the update:

  • Shader Compilation: the game no longer hangs or crashes during the initial shader compilation, though it will still compile on every launch
  • Rostok Memory Leak: the heart of the Zone’s trading and drinking has acceptable performance again, after fixing a serious memory leak triggered by the region
  • Long-Term Performance: on the same tune, the game no longer lags when playing for long periods with aiming becoming noticeably smoother now
  • Xbox Saves: a critical issue that occasionally caused Xbox players to lose their entire saves has been fixed
  • Menu Stability: the game no longer crashes arbitrarily depending on certain UI animations
