In terms of immersive, story-filled open worlds, the STALKER series consistently excels by offering a captivating setting brimming with atmosphere and lore. As you explore this game world, you’ll inevitably run into a diverse assortment of mutants, anomalies, feuding factions, and of course, fellow stalkers.
This game offers an engaging narrative that leads to various conclusions, and your decisions significantly impact the story’s direction. Additionally, there are numerous optional missions scattered throughout the game world, providing ample opportunities for you to accumulate additional funds and equipment as you progress.
In STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, don’t overlook these engaging side missions. They stand out as the game’s finest, each offering unique experiences for various reasons. Some offer generous payoffs, while others lead players to uncharted territories or present tough ethical dilemmas that must be resolved. Keep a close watch for these crucial side quests in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
10. Warlock’s Debtor
Location: Zalissya
Among the initial side missions you may encounter, one is called “Warlock’s Debtor.” You can pick up this mission from the Warlock located in Zalissya. This quest offers you a series of decision-making situations and the opportunity to obtain powerful equipment early on in the game.
To reap the greatest benefits from this mission, it’s advantageous to ally with Valik Lummox. This alliance will necessitate players climbing the nearby water tower. Atop the tower, they’ll find Valik’s personal scoped AKM 74S – a valuable weapon to acquire early in the game, and one that definitely justifies the quest’s pursuit.
9. The Poppy Field
Location: Lesser Zone
Exploring the Poppy Field is like stepping into a surreal and psychedelic part of the Zone, as it tends to induce strange, hallucinatory experiences for those who wander there. Your journey begins by conversing with Mityay in Zalissya; he will request that you fetch an Orthodox icon for him.
Though the journey may feel aggravating due to its random teleports across the fields, it’s incredibly immersive, and nowhere else within the Zone shares a similar charm.
Additionally, there’s a chance for significant gains during this journey, yet it involves two steps: first, selling the emblem to Pomor; secondly, turning against him to reclaim it later.
8. Budmo!
Location: Slag Heap
This distinctive sub-mission is beneficial to tackle at an early stage, yet not for the common reasons. Soon enough, anyone spending more than a few hours within this zone will perceive that principles offer little advantage in such a menacing and untrustworthy landscape.
As a gamer, here’s how I might put it: “Kick off this mission by chatting up the tipsy fellows in the Slag Heap tavern. They’ll task me with sneaking vodka into three hidden caches. But guess what? When I reach those stashes, I find they’re packed with some top-notch loot instead!
1. Taking the goods isn’t going to win over your business partners; instead, it may provoke retaliation. However, this shouldn’t be a significant issue for your recently obtained M10.
2. Swiping the merchandise won’t make your associates happy, and they might respond aggressively. But, that shouldn’t pose a major challenge for your new M10.
3. Lifting the goods won’t endear you to your partners, and it may lead to confrontation. Still, this should not be a substantial hurdle for your new M10.
4. Snitching the items won’t win brownie points from your clients, but instead, they might retaliate. Nevertheless, this shouldn’t be too challenging for your new M10.
5. Making off with the goods won’t make your employers happy, and you might face hostility as a result. However, that should not pose much of an issue for your recently purchased M10.
7. No Honor Among Thieves
Location: Slag Heap
An exciting alternative side mission to tackle early on is “No Honor Among Thieves.” Though it may present some difficulties, successfully navigating its choices could lead to significant prizes, such as an exceptionally scarce and distinctive Viper Submachine Gun.
To initiate the task, chat with the arms vendor, Huron, who can be found in Slag Heap. He’ll propose a job involving a delivery close by, but the interaction won’t stay friendly for long as a group of marauding bandits will show up, requiring you to handle the situation.
After the battle, converse with Docent and ensure his survival so he can provide you with the location coordinates for the Shah’s Hidden Treasure.
6. Deceive The Deceiver
Location: Slag Heap
A handful of optional missions provide glimpses into the treacherous and deceitful nature of the Zone, like ‘Trick the Trickster.’ Locate Zakhar, a Stalker who hangs out near the vehicle entry in Slag Heap, to initiate this quest.
This mission presents two possible results, each offering comparable benefits. However, the decision boils down to whether you’re willing to act against Zakhar, who it turns out, is a traitor himself.
The outcome might culminate in a harsh confinement and potential violence against Zakhar within a storage container, where there is also a cache of prized possessions.
5. The Mysterious Case
Location: Sultansk
The ‘Mysterious Case’ might not be the trickiest side quest, but it offers a visit to one of the game’s most exciting settings and culminates in a fight at the harbor and on an old freight vessel. To initiate the mission, talk to Sonya in Sultansk first, followed by a conversation with the Sultan himself.
This mission, wrapped in a hint of enigma reminiscent of Pulp Fiction’s intrigue, offers a captivating glimpse into the political dynamics governing Stalker settlements, revealing the methods by which agreements are negotiated among groups.
4. Three Captains
Location: Sultansk
Once you’ve solved The Mysterious Case, Sonya will offer you another task down the line – it’s called “Three Captains.” This side mission is quite extensive and intricate within the game, offering players multiple decision points that significantly affect the game’s region.
The task at hand is organizing a gathering where Beard will meet the Sultan, and I’ll be positioned with a strategic viewpoint, similar to that of a sniper.
In the end, it’s up to you to decide whether to execute or spare both men, but in any case, you’ll receive a generous reward.
You have the final say on whether to take action against both men or not, and regardless of your choice, you will be compensated well.
3. In The Name of Science
Location: Ahroprom Factory
One of the trickiest additional missions in the game, titled “In The Name of Science,” will lead you on a journey to every edge of the Zone as you collect electronic collars for a scientist’s experimental device project.
Each collar should be obtained uniquely; some are placed on chimera and pseudo-giant creatures, whereas others can be persuaded or incentivized through conversation and offers.
To embark on the mission, ensure you’ve first accomplished “Visions of Truth” for STC Malachite. Following this, you’ll receive a radio communication from Dr. Scherba.
Adventuring through this mission is thrilling on its own, but with such a vast scope, I’m bound to stumble upon unexpected challenges and exciting detours along the way.
2. On The Edge
Location: Zalissya
In STALKER 2, Zalissya is among the initial areas players will discover, serving as a small symbol of human resilience amidst the chaos of the Lesser Zone.
After completing the main story missions outlined in SIRCAA, there will be an unexpected attack by a group of Monolithians.
During this side mission, activated when you approach Zalissya, players are challenged to join forces with the local stalkers to repel attacks. At times, it plays out like a thrilling Old West-style shootout.
1. The Freedom Colosseum
Location: Rostok
In the city of Rostok, you’ll find the Freedom Arena, a sequence of challenges. As you advance through these quests, the difficulty level increases. Notably, your ally Skif will be equipped with different weapons and gear tailored to each phase.
To locate the quest, go downstairs from Ganja’s bar and chat with Arnie. Finishing all five rounds on ‘Stalker’ difficulty accumulates a total of 12,700 coupons, although there’s a slight decrease for less difficult settings.
Remarkably, once you’ve claimed the title of arena champion, both stalkers and vendors will alter their interactions with Skif significantly. This transformation is accompanied by an increase in respect and admiration shown towards him.
