Stalker 2 Boss Says Additional Delays Were Not An Option

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen my fair share of delays and disappointments in the gaming world, I must say, I have nothing but respect for the resilience and determination shown by GSC Game World in releasing Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl under such challenging circumstances. The fact that they even managed to launch the game amidst a Russian invasion and subsequent relocation is nothing short of remarkable.

GSC Game World developed Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl under some of the toughest working conditions a development team might face. Amidst the ongoing Russian conflict, not only were multiple release dates postponed, but the entire operational headquarters had to be moved as well. The fact that they managed to release the game at all, given these circumstances, is truly impressive.

Despite encountering several problems in the game, the developer has been dedicated to resolving them and has released three updates so far. Yet, some players have pondered why the game wasn’t postponed for more refinement. Understanding the situation, no one would fault the studio, but CEO Ievgen Grygorovych stated that delaying it any further was not an available choice.

Stalker 2 Devs Did Not Want To Delay The Game Further

According to Grygorovych, it’s incredibly challenging to express one’s condition when engrossed in an extensive work cycle for months on end, pushing beyond normal limits, under immense pressure, and during an extremely taxing and overwhelming phase. (This is the paraphrased version of the original quote.)

Given your complete lack of energy, you find yourself questioning if you should attempt another marathon. However, due to your current state of exhaustion, it’s impossible for you to agree, ‘Let’s do one more marathon,'” he added.

Grygorovych pointed out that you’re so exhausted, you couldn’t possibly consider another marathon at this point,” he said. “Instead, we found ourselves doing as much as possible up to this moment, which is our deadline.

It’s clear that creating Stalker 2 under those circumstances was incredibly challenging for the team. They found themselves working long hours and had no idea what each new day would bring. Eventually, it became too much for them to handle, so they decided to stick to the release date of November 20th. Since then, there have been three updates released to fix different problems within the game.

In our latest update, we’ve shared that GSC Game World acknowledges numerous bugs within the A-Life 2.0 system. However, they have assured us that these issues will be addressed and the system will undergo improvements in upcoming updates.
