As a seasoned gamer and long-time fan of the STALKER series, I must say that GSC Game World has been nothing short of incredible in their commitment to addressing the issues plaguing STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Just two days ago, they released update 1.1.2, fixing shader compilation and save loading issues, as well as implementing an automatic save back-up feature for PC users!
Game World from GSC keeps rolling out fresh updates for their blockbuster first-person shooter survival horror game, “STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl“. The most recent update arrives perfectly timed for the holiday weekend, enhancing many aspects of “STALKER 2“, a day after the widely acclaimed title received its largest update yet.
On December 19, gaming company GSC Game World unveiled an extensive update for their game, STALKER 2. This update encompassed more than 1,800 bug fixes, modifications, and enhancements aimed at improving the user experience. In this update, version 1.1, adjustments were made to NPC spawns, AI, balance, and optimization. On the same day, the studio also released patch 1.1.1 to address a few problems that were causing PC users to encounter crashes upon launching the game after update 1.1.
After making two recent updates, GSC Game World has rolled out another patch for STALKER 2. As per the official patch notes (available further in this article), update 1.1.2 tackles several problems with the game that have been reported by the community. Players were experiencing a problem where shader compilation got stuck, resulting in an infinite wait or crash. Fortunately, this issue has now been resolved, along with other problems causing crashes when leaving the game and for those who couldn’t load their saved games.
Also included in the latest update is a massive new feature for STALKER 2 players that allows users to back up their save files and prevent the loss of data. In the official patch notes, GSC Game World says that save files will be stored automatically and last for 4 days before being deleted. Unfortunately, it looks like this new feature is only available on PC, with no word on whether or not Xbox Series X/S owners can look forward to save back-ups in the future.
In recent days, we’ve seen numerous significant upgrades and enhancements, which are certain to delight fans, given the myriad of launch problems STALKER 2 encountered, complete with bugs and glitches. Despite needing several patches to rectify these issues, it appears that STALKER 2 has still been a massive success for GSC Game World. The long-awaited sequel has already generated profits for the studio, only a month after its debut. Interestingly, GSC Game World announced that over 1 million copies of STALKER 2 were sold in just 48 hours following its release.
