As a seasoned Stalker player, I’ve navigated the treacherous wastelands of the Exclusion Zone more times than I can count. But nothing quite compares to the political intrigue and high-stakes decisions that the Three Captains quest presents in Stalker 2. It’s not just about pulling the trigger, it’s about choosing the path less traveled and seeing where it leads you.
In the game Stalker 2, several missions allow players to make choices that significantly impact the game world, their earnings, or both. One such mission, known as The Three Captains side quest, places the political fate of the Zaton area squarely in the hands of the player.
If you’re aiming for a quick profit in the game Stalker 2, Three Captains is an easily accessible quest to tackle. But if you’re worried that choosing one option over another might lead you to miss out on something interesting, this guide can help alleviate your concerns.
Three Captains Mission Guide
Your adventure with the Three Captains starts once you converse with Sonya Kalyna, the tavern keeper at Sultansk in Zaton. She’ll propose a contract to eliminate Beard and the Sultan, heads of opposing Loner and Bandit gangs in the area. The task is straightforward: take out both leaders during their meeting in a nearby warehouse. For this mission, your objectives are as follows:
- Kill Sultan and Beard
- Find and take over the sniper’s position (Optional)
As a gamer, I could head straight to the rendezvous point and unleash a barrage of attacks on everyone there. But if I’m aiming for a stealthier approach, I’ve got an extra task to complete – a sneaky way to take down my opponents without raising too much alarm.
Three Captains – Sniper Location
After taking up the task, make your way to the map location provided by the quest. You will come across a deserted warehouse complex with two massive crane towers on either side. Note that Sultan’s sniper is stationed in the southern tower – exercise caution as you move towards him since there are tripwires on the ladders and entranceway.
From the tower’s vantage point, you’ll find a clear view of Sultan and Beard engaged in conversation near a large, damaged window within the compound. If you don’t have a sniper rifle similar to the Lynx from Stalker 2, grab the distinctive AR416 resting by the window instead.
Spare or Kill Sultan and Beard
If you defeat the faction leaders, Sonya will acknowledge your success with a well-deserved reward. But if you tune in to the radio near the sniper’s perch, you’ll uncover that Sonya secretly manipulated Sultan and Beard into confrontation. Neither of them wanted this fight, yet they were unwillingly dragged into a conflict instigated by Sonya that neither had requested.
To help Sultan and Beard, tune into the radio and let their discussion run its course. Afterward, a fresh mission objective will be presented, allowing you to align with the two leaders against Sonya. Once this option arises, mercenaries will invade the warehouse, attacking everyone present. You can either take them out from your perch or engage them in close combat on the ground.
Rewards and Outcomes
Regardless of who you save, you’ll receive about 8,000 Coupons for this side quest. However, if you kill Sultan and Beard, you’ll be able to loot an RPM-74 machine gun from the former’s body. If you decide to betray Sonya, both leaders will be grateful to you, and you’ll end up with improved relations with both of them. Technically, the modified AR416 and SVD-M in the sniper’s nest count as rewards, though you’ll have to repair the latter if you want to use it.
