As a seasoned Stalker, with countless hours spent navigating the treacherous lands of the Zone, I can confidently say that the Shift Change side quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is one of the most intriguing and challenging missions yet. The Hot on the Trail mission sets the stage for this thrilling sub-quest, where we’re tasked with retrieving a key from the roof of the Waste Processing Station to confront the monster that has taken over the facility.

In the mission titled “Hot on the Trail” within the game “Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl“, the character Skif makes it to the Waste Processing Station and catches a radio message from survivors. Upon arriving at the station, gamers encounter Jumper and Bluish, who are the only ones left alive. Jumper will share that there’s a beast lurking in the facility that overpowered everyone, including his friend Bluish.

In this scenario, Jumper requests that Skif capture the creature in return for a password to access their hidden cache. However, to reach the facility’s lower levels, Skif needs to secure the key from a worker named North, who is stationed on the rooftop of WPS. This sets off the “Shift Change side mission“, during which Skif must obtain the WPS key and infiltrate the lower part of the Waste Processing Station to confront the creature.

How to Find the Key from North on WPS Roof in Shift Change

Reaching the Warehouse

Initially, exit the room and make your way towards the bridge, leading you into the central area of the Waste Processing Station. Proceed through the first structure and circumnavigate the right side of the second one. Maintain a leftward trajectory along the wall, and you’ll eventually come across a door that a zombified soldier will open for you. Once you’ve neutralized the threat by shooting it in the head, step inside the warehouse.

Heading up to the WPS Roof

Upon entering the warehouse, you’ll find a series of steps ascending to an upper area. Climb these stairs and reach the platform where you will encounter a corpse resting on a railing. Close by this spot is a space suitable for a jump, allowing you to clear it and land on a container situated centrally within the warehouse.

Utilize the container as a stepping stone to cross over to the other part of the warehouse. Next, find your way to the top platform and ascend the ladder that leads you to the rooftop of the WPS.

Retrieving the Key from North’s Body

As I ascend to the rooftop, I make my way to the far end, where I find a chair beneath what appears to be a cleverly-reimagined metal shelter serving as an umbrella. Taking position on the ledge, I peer down, scanning for any signs of the iconic figure known as North, keeping an eye out for the distinctive pipes that mark his location.

Carefully descend to the central pipe and search the body to obtain the WPS roof key. Now, you can advance both the “Shift Change” side mission and the “Hot on the Trail” main mission concurrently.
