Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition release date announced with free upgrade for owners

Despite ongoing progress on Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl, with the team diligently working towards their ambitious 2025 schedule, GSC Game World has unveiled the launch date for an enhanced version of Stalker: Legends of the Zone – the Enhanced Edition.

On May 20, 2025, the updated Stalker Trilogy is set to launch for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. If you already own any version of the game across these platforms, you’ll get a complimentary upgrade to the improved edition.

In the updated version of this game, you’ll find an array of fresh visual elements, resolved issues (bug fixes), and performance enhancements, along with modifications that make the gaming experience more contemporary and engaging for today’s gamers. However, for those who favor the classic version, it will remain accessible on PC platforms.

The developer outlined that several important aspects have undergone improvements in the game’s appearance compared to the initial versions. These changes involve revamped skyboxes, better GodRays and lighting, polished reflections on surfaces with added effects for wetness and enhanced 3D models for characters and weapons. Textures have also been enlarged and upgraded for more intricate details. Lastly, certain user interface elements have been modified to boost usability across both PC and console platforms.

In simpler terms, GSC clarifies that the updated versions of the Stalker Trilogy don’t introduce any new content. However, they’ve improved the controls and adapted them for current gaming standards. Additionally, some quality-of-life features have been incorporated to improve gameplay and usability, and issues with broken quests have been fixed.

In terms of customizing it, the Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition doesn’t support modifications designed for the original games. Instead, creators of mods will need to revise their creations for this updated version. However, the games do include Steam Workshop compatibility for users to easily add new content.

The developer mentioned that the current modifications aren’t compatible with the upgraded version of Legends of the Zone. But don’t worry, fans of the modified gameplay can continue to access and play these modifications because the original trilogy is still being sold in stores.
