Stalker Threatens Cinna, Valkyrae, and Emiru During IRL Stream

In the course of a real-life livestream, well-known broadcasters Valkyrae, Emiru, and Cinna experienced stalking and harassment from a young individual who made threats against their lives. Fortunately, the stream was abruptly halted, and all three women, along with their team members, remained safe following this unsettling event.

Stream Stalker Charges at and Threatens Streamer Trio

At yesterday’s Sis-a-Thon stream lasting several days, hosts Valkyrae, Cinna, and fellow streamer Emiru were at Santa Monica Pier. While they were there, an incident unfolded: the group, including the camera crew, walked past a young man sitting on the ground who asked for Emiru’s phone number. She refused, and they moved on. However, the man stated, “I’m going to keep tailing her.

Following a prolonged period where they asked him to cease, the group attempted to depart, but he engaged in a dispute with one of their companions. When the bystanders appealed for assistance from security, he advanced towards them, first brandishing a threat to fight, then uttering “I’ll kill you right now.” After moving away from this individual, further requests for security were made, and the live broadcast concluded.

Immediately following the conclusion of the stream, both Cinna and Valkyrae updated their Twitter followers to assure them they were safe, but also announced that Sis-A-Thon would be coming to an end. The next day, Valkyrae returned to Twitter to refute unfounded claims that the incident had been orchestrated, while simultaneously condemning those who had instigated hate speech against the women during the broadcast.

It’s disheartening to witness accounts harassing us over a 10-second clip of a minor glitch during our continuous streaming event, labeling us as “beggars for subs” or making sexist comments like “women do nothing.” What’s even more disappointing is that these same accounts are seemingly capitalizing on this hostile interaction to generate engagement. In real life, we stream regularly, and watching this situation unfold has been a sad experience.

It’s equally distressing to observe accounts accusing my friends and me of faking our experiences, instead of questioning the behavior of the man involved in this incident. This behavior, blaming women rather than examining men’s actions, has been a source of embarrassment. No matter what I achieve or strive for in this industry, or how hard I work to earn respect, there are some men who will harbor misogynistic views and blame women, regardless of the circumstances.
