Stalker Trilogy devs are “listening to feedback” over hated remasters, but won’t say if they’ll add in censored Russian content

The updated versions of GSC Game World’s Stalker: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, referred to as Enhanced Editions, have been met with mainly unfavorable responses from fans upon release. Despite this, purchasing the remastered versions doesn’t replace the original releases; instead, they grant you access to both the new and old game versions. However, many fans are displeased due to various modifications made throughout the games.

In the updated Legends of the Zone Trilogy, one noticeable shift is the omission of all Russian content throughout the entire trilogy. This encompasses more than just the cherished Russian voiceover—which remains hidden beneath the Polish “lektor” version—but also a multitude of Soviet-era elements that give the remastered games an odd feel.

Stalker Trilogy devs are listening to fans

In their announcement about the initial update for the newly remastered game, GSC Game World communicated that they are actively taking into account the opinions of players regarding the new version. Besides various other problems like emerging bugs, unclear visuals and the absence of technologies such as DLSS, the creators haven’t specified which feedback they are considering.

In a recent announcement, the developer expressed their commitment to enhancing the trilogy. They value the input of “Stalkers” and are diligently addressing the most pressing concerns. Their aim is to make your return to the Zone an extraordinary experience.

In the process of creating Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, GSC Game World eliminated several references to Soviet Russia. This decision was made following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as the studio has suffered losses with friends, family, and team members directly affected by this conflict. As a result, Russian dialogues and symbols were not incorporated in the game.

For enthusiasts of the initial games yearning for the omitted material to be reinstated in the game (should an update ever be released), the PC editions were equipped with various mods right from launch, enabling the return of the Russian dialogue and uncensored resources.
