Stanley Tucci’s cancer is in remission, but his body is still healing.
In 2021, the actor from Conclave revealed that he had been through chemotherapy and radiation following a cancer diagnosis in 2017, when a tumor was discovered on his tongue’s base. Even after several years, he continues to experience the after-effects.
More recently, during the filming of the latest season of his show “Searching for Italy,” a 64-year-old individual mentioned experiencing fatigue.
Stanley explained during the March 18th episode of David Tennant Does a Podcast With, “By one o’clock in the afternoon, I would feel completely drained and exhausted.” He added, “I thought there was something wrong with me. Eventually, after everything had ended, just before the last test, I had a blood test and realized, ‘Something must be seriously off with me.’ It turned out my thyroid wasn’t working properly.
The actress from The Devil Wears Prada shared that her recent health issues are a result of radiation treatment she received about six to seven years ago. This radiation apparently damaged her thyroid, and these complications are only surfacing now.
Following discussions with his cancer specialist, Stanley shared that he experienced a comforting sense of relief upon discovering that his tiredness was due to the radiation therapy. Currently, he’s undergoing treatment with medication designed to mimic his thyroid’s function, which has led to an improvement in his overall well-being.
Stanley, who has children Isabel (25), Nicolo (25), Camilla (21) with his late wife Kate Tucci, and Matteo (10) and Emilia (6) with his current wife Felicity Blunt, mentioned that he still feels drained in the afternoon. He said, “It’s as if you can’t think or move. However, once I started taking the pill, it made a significant improvement. I aim to return to how I was before.
Nonetheless, the actor has learned to chalk up a little bit of the fatugue to his age.
He jokingly commented that it’s quite typical, given his recent birthday at 64. There are moments, he admitted, when he feels unmotivated about doing anything.
Earlier, Stanley discussed his diagnosis, explaining that the fight against cancer his late wife Kate endured had given him a unique perspective on making treatment choices.
