2024’s best films will soon be revealed, as the 97th Academy Awards return to Hollywood once more.
For the first time, Conan O’Brien, a comedian and talk show host similar to Jimmy Kimmel, was the one who stepped onto the stage of Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre this year, replacing Jimmy Kimmel as the main presenter after he had hosted for two consecutive years.
Indeed, just like in past Oscar ceremonies, a multitude of celebrities will take turns to announce each award, boasting a stellar cast of A-list actors, veterans, and past winners who have graciously agreed to participate in this year’s event.
Last year, four actors received golden statuettes: the duo Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr from Oppenherimer, Emma Stone from Poor Things, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph from The Holdovers. Other notable names who won include Harrison Ford and Margaret Qualley, among others.

Who is hosting the Oscars 2025?
The individual leading the ceremony is none other than the renowned comedian and talk show host, Conan O’Brien – a role he was appointed to back in November of 2024.
For the first time, O’Brien is taking over as the host, stepping into the shoes of Jimmy Kimmel, who previously hosted the last two Oscar nights. However, it seems that Kimmel declined the offer to come back for a third straight year, which would have been his fifth time hosting in total.

In an interview with ABC News prior to the event, O’Brien shared his intention to find a balance between humor and reverence while also paying tribute to those impacted by this year’s Los Angeles wildfires.
The Oscars event is heavily rooted in its local context, being primarily a showcase of Los Angeles. Given the circumstances unfolding here, it’s important to acknowledge them, as this is a tribute to the diligent efforts of numerous individuals.
He stated: “I find myself in a situation requiring careful navigation – like sewing a tricky seam or walking a tightrope. Regardless, I’m committed to getting it right. However, I aim to inject some humor into the process, ensure we enjoy ourselves along the way, and create moments of pure delight.
