You can feel the excitement in your funny bones.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live”, popular celebrities are gracing the red carpet in New York for “SNL 50: The Anniversary Special”. This three-hour event will be streamed live on Peacock and broadcast on NBC on February 16. The special program aims to recognize the most memorable and side-splitting moments from this legendary sketch series throughout its history.
Notable comedians kicked off the festivities with hilarity on the red carpet, and among the initial arrivals were comedians like Taran Killam, Sasheer Zamata, Rob Riggle, and Jim Gaffigan.
A number of former cast members from Saturday Night Live are returning to their previous hangouts, with names like Adam Sandler, Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg, Chris Rock, Fred Armisen, Jason Sudeikis, Jimmy Fallon, Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, Seth Meyers, Tina Fey, and Will Ferrell all set to attend the event.
However, Amy, who became a part of SNL in 2001, expresses her surprise about the plans that creator Lorne Michaels has prepared.
She playfully quipped to Today on February 10th, “I’m not prepared at all, and I know nothing about it – just like a typical Saturday Night Live (SNL) situation.
Amy joked, “Perhaps Lorne mentioned a pet turtle to the show, but actually, they’re brainstorming many large concepts instead.
But more than the sketches, she’s ready to reunite with old pals.
The 53-year-old expressed how fantastic it’s been returning to be with their group of friends again, saying, “I adore them immensely and have the privilege of working with them often. However, being among all the individuals I cherish and share a history with is just thrilling.
It’s not just her participating; even past hosts and famous admirers are jumping in. The list spans across various fields, with musicians such as Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, and Sabrina Carpenter joining, along with actors like Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Pedro Pascal, Tom Hanks, and Woody Harrelson.
As a dedicated follower, I’d always anticipate Scarlett Johansson being present to lend her support or add a playful twist, given her role as a supporter (or potential troll) of her partner, Colin Jost, who’s known for his work on the “Weekend Update” segment.
Which well-known personality is expected to shine on the red carpet? That would be Kim Kardashian, who’s set to make a comeback to Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center, having hosted SNL back in October 2021.
On “The Kardashians,” Kim expressed that the event following her gig was incredibly exhilarating, almost transcendent. She added that the atmosphere was overwhelming due to the sheer number of people, creating a sense of rapid excitement.
She added, “I’m just so excited that it’s over and I didn’t mess up one time, and I just had fun.”
Indeed, that’s where she had her first encounter, or as some might say, her romantic beginning, with Pete Davidson. They were together for approximately nine months before parting ways in the year 2022.
On the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast in April 2022, Kim remarked, “It was just a stage kiss, yet it had a bit of spark.” She further explained, “It wasn’t an intense, wild sensation…A few days later, I found myself thinking, ‘Hmm, there seems to be some charm at play.’
