Star Wars: Ahsoka Star Teases Season 2 Filming Start

As a dedicated Star Wars enthusiast who has weathered through the highs and lows of this expansive galaxy far, far away, I must say that the news of a second season for “Star Wars: Ahsoka” has me more than just a little excited! With my fingers crossed and eyes glued to the horizon (or rather, my favorite Star Wars news feed), I’ve eagerly anticipated updates on this highly-anticipated series.

Disney has officially announced that there will indeed be a second season of “Star Wars: Ahsoka”. However, given the busy schedule at Lucasfilm and considering the tease by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, the actress from the series, it seems we may have to wait almost a year before the new season hits our screens. This means that if everything goes as planned without any unexpected hurdles, we might not see it until 2026. The upcoming season is being developed by Dave Filoni, who also has a movie project in the pipeline – a crossover between all series during The New Republic era. Despite this, he has made it clear that the production of “Ahsoka” Season 2 takes precedence over his movie.

As a passionate fan, I was thrilled to learn from @mando3updates on Twitter that Bordizzo hinted at DragonCon that the production of the new project won’t kick off until Jon Favreau’s “The Mandalorian & Grogu” concludes filming. This suggests a possible start date post-summer 2024, keeping me on the edge of my seat with anticipation!

It’s likely that Favreau is directing the movie, but according to Filoni himself, he’s also contributing to the project development. This means there’s a chance Filoni won’t complete Season 2 of Ahsoka until next year. Fortunately, Filoni has already started working on season 2.

In an interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast earlier this year, Filoni shared that since he’s been working on Season 2 of Ahsoka, his understanding about the direction of the story has become clearer. He mentioned that he’s particularly fond of a specific opening scene and is eager to bring it to life. His current focus is primarily on Ahsoka and the broader galaxy, exploring how everything is unfolding together.

After the season finale of Ahsoka and the unresolved storylines about Sabine Wren, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Ezra Bridger, viewers have been curious about what might happen next for these characters. Given that Season 2 of the series could potentially air before summer 2024, it seems likely that fans will find answers to their questions in Season 2 instead of Dave Filoni’s planned The New Republic movie.

Stay tuned for updates on Season 2 of Star Wars: Ahsoka.
