As a huge Star Wars fan and follower of Ashley Eckstein’s career, I am in awe of her passion and dedication to the franchise. Her experiences in voicing Ahsoka Tano and seeing Rosario Dawson bring the character to life in live-action is truly a dream come true for any Star Wars fan.
Ashley Eckstein is well-known for providing the voice for Ahsoka Tano in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” as well as other animated projects from Lucasfilm. Recently, Rosario Dawson has taken on the role of Ahsoka in live-action, first appearing in “Star Wars: The Mandalorian.” Last year, Dawson starred in her own series, “Star Wars: Ahsoka,” which received five Emmy nominations. In an interview with ComicBook to mark the upcoming Her Universe Fashion Show at San Diego Comic-Con, we asked Eckstein if there are any Star Wars characters she would like to portray in live-action now that “Ahsoka” has been renewed for a second season on Disney+.
“I strongly identify as a Star Wars fan because of this particular topic,” Eckstein shared. “However, I’ll defer to Dave Filoni when it comes to story ideas. I’ve usually kept that role for him. So I want to clarify that my perspective is that of a fan, but if given the opportunity, I would be thrilled to act in live-action, as my experience is primarily in that area. The fans’ comments about me only being a voice actress amuse me, but most of my career has been spent on stage or in front of cameras.”
As a huge Star Wars fan, I can’t help but be excited about the recent casting of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian. It’s fascinating how her portrayal has lived up to fans’ expectations, and I’ve had an idea that might add an interesting layer to her character.

What Is Dave Filoni’s Star Wars Movie About?
Dave Filoni, the mastermind behind “Star Wars: Ahsoka” and the creative chief of Lucasfilm, is developing a new Star Wars film. Details about this project are scarce, but we do know that it will take place during the New Republic period. The film is anticipated to feature significant, grand occurrences.
Filoni previously shared with ComicBook that Jon Favreau and he have our own small production, but the Star Wars universe is vast. There are many opportunities, yet we approach things uniquely. I view A New Hope as a significant event in the storyline since the Death Star’s destruction alters everything. To create a cinematic moment during this era, it must mark a turning point that resonates with the audience and sets off a chain reaction if other shows are ongoing. So, if you were watching a show set in the time of A New Hope as a child, you would recognize that things have shifted due to the Death Star’s destruction, even if your show wasn’t directly affected by it. Thus, there are numerous ways to tell these Star Wars stories distinctively.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that the Her Universe Fashion Show is coming up at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25th at 6 PM PT in the Harbor Ballroom at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Keep an eye out for more details from our chat with Eckstein!
