Star Wars: Andor Reveals First Look at Krennic’s Return (After Ben Mendelsohn Denied It)

As a long-time Star Wars enthusiast who has witnessed the intricate twists and turns of this galaxy far, far away, I must say that I find myself both surprised and thrilled at the return of Director Orson Krennic in Star Wars: Andor Season 2. I vividly remember Ben Mendelsohn’s sworn statement that Krennic would not be making an appearance, so this turn of events is a delightful reminder that even the most reliable sources can sometimes be unreliable!

It turns out that Ben Mendelsohn, who claimed his Star Wars villain character Director Orson Krennic would not appear in Star Wars: Andor Season 2, has been untruthful. The unexpected revelation came when the character graced Empire Magazine’s cover, showcased as part of a sneak peek at Star Wars: Andor Season 2.

How Director Krennic Fits Into Andor Season 2’s Story

In the piece from Empire, we learn about the role of Krennic in Andor Season 2, going beyond being merely a target for Cassian Andor. He will also serve as a foe to Lt. Dedra Meero, an antagonist from the Imperial Security Bureau, portrayed by Denise Gough. At the conclusion of Andor Season 1, Meero narrowly escaped death during the civilian uprising on Ferrix, and was rescued by Syril Karn, a fallen Imperial officer (played by Kyle Stoller). Throughout the series, Meero has proven herself to be sharp-witted and resourceful, and appears to have been one of the first Imperial officers to suspect that a well-organized rebellion was brewing beneath the Empire’s watch.

As a dedicated gamer navigating through the Star Wars universe, I can confidently predict that I’ll be tracking Cassian Andor once more in Season 2. It won’t be surprising if I cross paths with Krennic, especially if I manage to piece together the puzzle and realize that the Rebellion is aiming to sabotage the Empire’s superweapon blueprints. From my experiences in Season 1, I know that overcoming the complexities of Imperial procedures and hierarchies is usually my toughest challenge, rather than having my strategic insights dismissed or even met with reprimands.

As a gamer, I’d say: “When Krennic and Meero didn’t agree, I found it endearing, as I shared this with Empire magazine. In my view, a face-off between Dedra and Krennic seems a bit lopsided. They’re all just underlings to Krennic. They’re all marching in the same direction. The Empire? If you dare voice your disagreement, there can be varying viewpoints.

As a die-hard Star Wars fan, it’s quite plausible that Dedra Meero could pop up in the inner circles of Imperial high command – even sharing scenes with characters like Tarkin and Krennic. Yet, when asked about potential appearances of other renowned Imperials, Mendelsohn remained tight-lipped, “You know I can’t reveal that. And honestly, I enjoy not being able to disclose the answer. It’s a delightful mystery.

Star Wars: Andor Season 2 will stream on Disney+ starting on April 22nd.
