Star Wars: Andor Star Got a Tattoo Dedicated to Their Character

As a seasoned gamer and Star Wars enthusiast with a soft spot for behind-the-scenes tales, I must say that Adria Arjona’s dedication to her role as Bix Caleen in Star Wars: Andor has left me utterly awestruck! The fact that she got a prison-style tattoo while on set during filming is nothing short of extraordinary.

To what extent are Star Wars actors committed to the series? While it’s not accurate to claim this for everyone, one actor certainly shows an exceptional level of devotion, as he got a Star Wars tattoo reminiscent of a prison design, right on set!

In a recent interview, actress Adria Arjona, who portrays Cassian Andor’s longtime friend and Rebel ally Bix Caleen in Star Wars: Andor, revealed an unexpected detail about her time on set during the filming of Season 2. She admitted to secretly getting a “stick-and-poke” tattoo during one of her lunch breaks while filming.

Arjona shared that she recently got a small ‘x’ tattoo, named after Bix, during an interview with THR. This is the first person she’s told about it, media-wise. She explained that her makeup artist made the tattoo using a stick-and-poke technique during a break on set. Since she has already finished filming for Disney and the footage is ready (it’s “in the can”), Disney can’t fire her over this tattoo.

In less formal terms, “stick-and-poke” tattooing is typically associated with prison environments instead of high-end TV productions like the one for the Andor series. However, here we find Arjona sporting an impressive collection of tattoos that even her fellow cast members found too extreme to emulate.

Arjona clarified, “I believe everyone was frightened instead.” They reacted with something like, “‘Tattooing during lunch? Could we lose our jobs?’ And I countered with, ‘It’s already been done!'”

Star Wars: Andor Star Got a Tattoo Dedicated to Their Character

In the first season of Andor, Bix Caleen emerged as a beloved character, particularly during the climactic storyline when Bix was subjected to intense torment by ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero (played by Denise Gough). The imperial forces had captured Bix with the intention of extracting information about Cassian Andor (portrayed by Diego Luna) on Ferrix. Through a series of grueling torture scenes, Bix was forced to endure extreme physical pain, but never wavered in spirit. Instead, Bix became an emblematic representation of the resourcefulness and resilience required to transform an ordinary person into a Rebel operative, while maintaining moral integrity under unimaginable pressure.

Adria Arjona cleverly integrated Bix into her character in a figurative sense, which undoubtedly boosted her acting career following her roles in Andor (and to some extent Morbius) released in 2022. Since then, she has secured parts in Richard Linklater’s Netflix film Hit Man alongside Twisters star Glen Powell, is promoting her new thriller Blink Twice with Channing Tatum, and is preparing for the big ensemble crime-drama series Criminal. The second season of Andor is slated for release next year to maintain the momentum, and there are rumors she might be involved in a spinoff series once the show concludes with Season 2.

Arjona has hinted that her tattoo is more than just memorabilia – it’s a statement of commitment:

In response to Variety’s query regarding a potential spinoff for Bix, Arjona expressed, “A substantial spinoff might be on the horizon later in my career. I’m focusing on securing job stability for myself in the future and extending my career. As a token of my dedication to Bix, I even got a tattoo.”
