View Urgent ForecastAfter its victorious comeback, Star Wars has been reintroducing Ventress to provide further insights into her tale. On May 4th this year, Star Wars unveiled the animated miniseries Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, shedding light on how Ventress was resurrected post-Dark Disciple demise. Now, another fresh Star Wars narrative is set to delve deeper into her presence in The Bad Batch by featuring a significant rematch with a notable character.
Asajj Ventress Is Going Head-To-Head With Clone Force 99 Once Again
Their First Meeting Was Long Before The Bad Batch Season 3
The comic miniseries titled “Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories — The Bad Batch — Ghost Agents” penned by Michael Moreci, featuring artists Reese Hannigan, Elisabetta D’Amico, Michael Atiyeh, and Valeria “Lux” Favoccia, narrates the perilous adventures of the main characters, the Bad Batch (also known as Clone Force 99). These events unfold during the era of the Clone Wars, where they encounter Asajj Ventress once more. Remarkably, this meeting is their first one on record.
In the third episode of Ghost Agents, the storyline ends with a suspenseful moment as Ventress’ genuine identity is on the verge of being exposed to Clone Force 99, moments before she initiates an assault. So far, Ventress has been keeping secret a stolen roster of the “ghost agents,” a list belonging to the Republic’s intelligence that the Clones have been trying to reclaim to prevent their identities from becoming public knowledge. As she tries to pass this list on to the bounty hunter Aurra Sing, Ventress encounters the Batch instead.
As a movie critic, I must say that the upcoming encounter between The Bad Batch and Ventress is a long-awaited rematch of their epic fight from season 3, episode 9, “The Harbinger.” Despite this being their first meeting in terms of the timeline, it’s clear that tension has been building since then. What makes this confrontation even more intriguing is the presence of Tech, who sadly met his end by the close of The Bad Batch season 3. Unfortunately, he won’t be present for this rematch, leaving us eagerly anticipating how things will unfold when the Ghost Agents unveil the outcome in episode #4. This battle promises to be another electrifying showdown that Star Wars fans will surely enjoy.
Will This Latest Rematch (Or First One) Retcon The Bad Batch Season 3?
There Are Many Ways To Work Around It
Indeed, some fans are pondering if the events of The Bad Batch season 3 might need adjustments due to an early encounter between Ventress and Clone Force 99 during the Clone Wars. Initially, neither Hunter, Wrecker, nor Crosshair immediately recognized Ventress. Instead, it was Crosshair who was tasked with recovering a datapad containing Tech’s old Republic files. These files contained information about Ventress, enabling them to correctly identify her later on.
In their initial encounter, there’s no need to alter the specific instance between them. It can effortlessly be portrayed that the three enhanced clone troopers were cautious, suspecting it could be Ventress, yet opted to wait until they had solid proof, especially since during the war they had allegedly learned she was deceased. Similarly, if Ventress recognized these three clones from their prior battle, it would be prudent for her not to disclose this fact; exposing her true identity isn’t a smart tactic for her in this situation.
It’s highly improbable that the initial clash between Ventress and Clone Force 99 in their upcoming encounter will undo or revise any parts of “The Bad Batch” season 3. Instead, this confrontation is expected to deepen that particular scene from the animated series, offering additional insights into why the Clones fight Ventress so fiercely to protect Omega. Any story or battle involving Asajj Ventress is exciting, and having Clone Force 99 involved only enhances it further.
