Star Wars Battlefront 3 Could Happen: Fans Hope as Developer Teases Return

For enthusiasts eagerly anticipating the release of “Star Wars Battlefront 3“, don’t lose heart, your passion is resonating. The Star Wars franchise enjoys immense popularity across films, TV shows, books, and video games. Among the iconic Star Wars video games, the Star Wars Battlefront series stands out. The initial games developed by Pandemic Studios, especially “Battlefront 2”, released towards the end of the Star Wars prequel era, were rich in content from “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith”. These games left a lasting impression on fans and are considered all-time classics.

Many fans eagerly anticipated a new installment of Star Wars Battlefront 3, and it seemed that developer Free Radical was working on it. Regrettably, the project was abruptly terminated at the last minute. The developers reported that the game was almost finished when they received orders to cancel it from higher-ups. Despite this, Disney and EA recognized the worth of the Battlefront franchise as they assumed control over Star Wars and its associated games. DICE then revitalized the series, leveraging their extensive first-person shooter expertise from the Battlefield series to develop a grandiose Battlefront game. Although the initial release had some flaws, the sequel addressed many of these issues by incorporating elements like a campaign and offering more intricacy in multiplayer.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Developer Wants to Make Battlefront 3

Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Star Wars Battlefront 3 was not developed by DICE, marking the second time this franchise has missed out on a third installment. For nearly a decade, Star Wars enthusiasts have been left disappointed. However, there’s renewed hope as fans are actively playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 en masse and using social media to demonstrate their desire for a new game in the series. This campaign seems to be gaining traction, catching the attention of decision-makers at EA.

Previously serving as live producer for Star Wars Battlefront 2, Mats Helge Holm recently engaged with fans on Reddit. He suggested, though unlikely, that Star Wars Battlefront 3 might be unveiled soon due to ongoing discussions behind the scenes. Holm pointed out one of the primary reasons for the delay is the departure of many original development team members from DICE and their subsequent distribution across various studios. However, he expressed his desire, along with a group of colleagues, to reunite the team in an attempt to create Star Wars Battlefront 3.

It’s quite possible that this collaboration won’t occur anytime soon, given a few factors. Firstly, Disney, as the owner of Star Wars, needs to give its approval which is a significant step in itself. Secondly, DICE is currently engrossed in developing Battlefield 6 along with several other Electronic Arts studios. EA is focusing much of their resources on this project, even temporarily pausing Need for Speed development so that Criterion can assist in completing Battlefield 6. Therefore, any potential collaborators joining DICE at present would most likely be involved with the Battlefield project.

If circumstances are ideal, it’s possible that Star Wars Battlefront 3 could be released on a PS6 or the next Xbox console. The enthusiasm for this game is significant, and it would be unusual if it didn’t materialize at some point. However, we can only speculate as we wait to learn more about its development. Still, it’s heartening to know that some developers are interested in creating the game, and there may even be discussions at a high level regarding its production.
