In their offensive, The New Republic initiated counterattacks against the Empire’s remaining troops, including Admirals Rax and Sloan. Luke, Rynn, Kranor, and Alaytia ventured to Kijimi in an attempt to persuade Tomasso and his Spice Runner crew to join their fight. The revelation that Rynn was Tomasso’s daughter, a spice runner who defected for the Rebel cause, may have influenced their decision. Simultaneously, Adelhard’s forces in the Anoat sector were readying themselves to assault the Acolytes of the Beyond. However, an ally of The New Republic stepped in – Pirate Eleodie Maracavanya.
A three-cornered struggle among the New Republic, the fragmented Imperial remnants, and Adelhard’s renegade forces is underway. The future of the galaxy hangs in the balance as the climactic Battle of Jakku commences. This represents the last opportunity for the New Republic…
In this instance, the fourth part of Marvel’s “Star Wars: Battle of Jakku” series, titled “Star Wars: Battle of Jakku – Last Stand“, was the opening crawl. This is the concluding segment (#12) of a trilogy that unfolds between the events depicted in “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens“. The trilogy, consisting of “Insurgency Rising“, “Republic Under Siege“, and “Last Stand“, was penned by Alex Segura. The narrative begins in the wake of the Rebel Alliance’s triumph over the Galactic Empire at the Battle of Endor, as depicted in “Return of the Jedi“.
Across three separate four-part storylines, a Marvel comic depicted the climactic Galactic Civil War battle, known as the Battle of Jakku. In this conflict, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo defended the fledgling New Republic against lingering Imperial forces. The “Battle of Jakku” series marked Marvel’s transition from storytelling following the events of “Empire Strikes Back” to that of the New Republic era, which will be further explored in the rebooted ongoing “Star Wars” comic by Segura and artist Phil Noto (as seen in “Star Wars: The High Republic”).
